We started in January 2023 as an experiment to find all the noderunners and would-be noderunners on #Nostr, and give them a place to learn and connect.

(Finally) watching Civil War.
Kicking it in a hotel room with my best friend, with pizza and beer en route.
Playing around with Alby Hub, learning more about Lightning channels and seeing if I can’t open new channels to my own BitKit wallet and others (maybe Zeus) if I’m able.
Life does not get better than this.

Not yet, it’s hard to migrate a whole community. Telegram is a mess, but it serves a purpose. If a true Nostr-based alternative emerges, we’d use it, but then we would still have to manage parallel chat groups for a while.

If this can accomplish the goal of becoming a true Telegram replacement, the Nodestrich group will adopt it. We always wanted our group to be Nostr-only, but the tools to communicate effectively as a group didn’t exist at the time.

If you lose internet connectivity would, can that force-close a Lightning channel? Or would the node simply be offline..?

No, your channel can be offline indefinitely. The other party can force close while you’re down, though.
