If you're new to Nostr and/or haven't joined a social network in a long time, a quick tip is that any social network is only as good as you make it. You need to follow a lot of people, even if you don't know them, and put in the work to engage on people's posts. Other people will see you interacting and follow you back. And since this is Nostr, we'll even be friendly, helpful, and send you some Zaps too! In short, it's only a ghost town if you want it to be.

Be aware of "new" people seeking your generous Zaps. Sorry, but I find it odd if someone is brand new, but has a Lightning address and uses two popular hashtags on their second post without anyone telling them to do that on their first post all the while having an incorrectly filled out Nostr address. Now, I get it, NIP-05 or Nostr address is confusing for most people, but having a working Lightning address, now that's a bit suspicious. When we have Bitcoiners that have put BTC addresses and LNBC invoices in there. 🧐

Free markets have the exclusive power to solve problems like these, and it does so quite efficiently. There is no sense getting upset or picking sides. We don't need "client wars". Someday we'll forget this even happened.

I like amethyst. I like damus. I'll use both. If you can't see my dumb meme pictures in a client it doesn't matter to me. This protocol will improve no matter what you do. So chill out and let's simply support our devs and not turn every thing into a virtual dick measuring contest. Focus your energy on building.

The "Nostr welcome committee" is an important and valuable part of our community. When people try out new social media apps, they often feel like they're posting into the void. They aren't following anyone. No one's following them. It's easy to get discouraged early on.

Not everyone continues on and puts in the work to find their friends, to find new people to follow, and makes the most out of this new experience. Those of us that seek out new people, help them setup their profile, their Lightning address, their Nostr address, teach them all the ins and the outs of Nostr, are what makes Nostr different.

This also shows how much we've grown over the past several months. I'm not talking about growth statistics. We've seen those. I'm talking about the community that we've built. My original nostr note received zero love. No reactions. No comments. No hugs. No shakas. Zaps weren't even a thing yet.
