Also Nostr is simple! So review the protocol change, new implementation and other stuff such as running relay is more easier. it makes everything better and makes your reasons about why Nostr is better possible.
We can't really compare. Blue sky or Mastadon and other social media platforms are true DINOs. Before I had an idea that there are different levels of decentralization and it's Ok! But now I think it's binary. It's centralized or decentralized.
If you ask me Nostr network and protocol is decentralized as till people run relays and review changes on protocol and react to changes. Same as Bitcoin. Then it's decentralized, safe and logical. And we can say there is no control from Fiatjaf or anyone else.
That is out job to review, react, develop and run.
I'm a Dev who is really interested on decentralized and distributed systems, but I was and I'm interested in social media from childhood. Two reason that I'm a developer...
So I can say I studied a lot of protocols and I can say Nostr is one that I was searching for.
More censorship, more interest on Nostr...
But what about Iran? That's hard to talk about this one...

Cool, I was thinking to start a relay implementation, a lightweight one. For personal hosting and limited connections. I'm generally started developing on nostr using rust/go.

Cool, that can help to choose one. But yes, still the ecosystem is unstable and they are making different frameworks and some one use them. I believe after 4 or 4 years only some of them will remain.
Like gin and echo in golang or nest in js.
