I agree. Same for Bitcoin. It is for everybody. It’s for you and me and BlackRock and the US and Chinese governments and whoever else wants to embrace it. When we have everyone on a money standard that cannot be debased value will tend to be naturally distributed to everyone according to their contributions. Fiat aristocracy might even get a head start, but they can’t enslave people forever on a hard-money standard.

I suppose one advantage of Nostr is that those people can't literally force you to agree with them. They can't actually get your banned for instance. So although they can behave in an extremely toxic and aggressive way, they can't actually do anything to you. And so maybe the argument is that the presence of more people strenghtens the network.

Yeah I understand that, I'm not a technical guy but I understand decentralisation... Regardless of that, I believe every expression of human creativity and ingenuity should be allowed to exist and offered for people to freely choose.... But there also should be some form of moderation because I wouldn't want my kids for example (If I had any), to be exposed to ALL kinds of content, there are stuff not meant for minors to see or to read about, out there in the wild and I don't mean just porn, there are also thoughts, ideas, information in general, that could be harmful for the young minds or just misleading at best.
Sometimes seems like people here are kind of extremists, yeah we all love Bitcoin and it will always be the greatest, but people here quickly disregard all kinds of new technologies inspired by the greatest, that build upon it's principles and expands utility beyond store of value and financial freedom.
This offspring of ideas sprung from Bitcoin was bound to happen sooner or later, good deeds inspire others to follow and contribute, expand and further build upon that foundation.

I think the “how” to have the best online experience is what most debate on. Government involvement in that just corrupts it and is a slippery slope as we have seen. “Content mediation” (if we want to call it that) should be in the hands of the platform/relay owners solely with the final say at the individual level with mute or block.

Last time I checked people talk freely about Nostr, Bluesky and other platforms on X, there are even entire accounts dedicated to competing platforms over there. But when I come here, a platform that is regarded as the "future of censorship resistant networks", I stumble upon posts like this, inciting to censor other platforms, posted by the very own creator of Nostr.... what is this shit? 🤷🏻♂️
