#introductionsim a software developer with lots of ADD, currently interested in AI and LLMs but that may change without notice
Isn’t it just the older we get the better our smartphones are?
I don’t understand this argument. Not saying it’s wrong, I just don’t understand it.
Is it the “making everyone else PC” that is the control that makes woke people different from other people?
I was reading Nietzsche earlier today and he talked about how even the most despicable people act in the interests of humanity. Without them we may have gone soft and relaxed and not survived as a species. Not so sure about that, but it’s a comforting thought
Art obviously can’t be the only sensuous presentation of ideas. How else do you explain passionate Muslims in a world where art is forbidden, eg the Taliban.
Maybe its not sensuous in that case, so it has to be forced upon people
And the populace mimics the desires of the high priests etc.
Girard’s theory of mimetic desires (we desire things because other role models desire them) states that the reason we’re such blank slates at birth is because us mimicking other people is what made us so successful. Horses now do the same thing as horses did 100,000 years ago. In order for us to reach this level of civilisation we have to come out of the womb very empty and very eager to imitate each other. Which unfortunately leads to war and other problems, since we want what others want.
Hegel said art is the sensuous presentation of ideas. Art needn’t have original ideas, it does however make cold ideas warmer so that we can take them to heart.
Today 50 years ago America was instrumental in overthrowing the democratically elected president of Chile.
However, as much of a leftist that I am, how poorly could Chile under Allende could have fared? History teaches us it could have been very bad. Venezuela teaches us this too.
But we’ll never know.
Nostr presents a very compelling alternative in a world of private monopolies. Musk controls lots. Bezos controls books. Microsoft controls software.
I just wish the Nostr feed wasn’t so damn boring. It’s all Nostr and crypto. This note included.
Trying to understand how it’s different from git grep
Nope but looking into what ripgrep is now!
Listening to Swedish podcasts, you get a feeling we’re part of the world. We talk about other countries.
American podcasts are way more obsessed with America only. Unless it’s talk about enemy countries.
Exploring the eerie beauty of Japan's abandoned villages
Today I’ll try taking screenshots of code and drawing on it in Excalidraw as a way of designing code changes. Instead of printing it and drawing on paper.
Hmmm if you don't have to do any server at all and you already know Angular then that might fit. More about the workflow of creating an app and splitting up the work into an API and a JS heavy front end where good old HTML might work as well
