I see what you mean, but the point of petnames, for me, is to allow others to see how you refer to each contact, so it must be public by necessity. I do think we need apps that keep private contact lists, stored locally or saved as encrypted blobs under NIP-78 though.

I'm so mad at big pharma right now. I swear apoquel is addictive and your dog requires more and more. I told my vet she was getting itchy at about 2am every day, requiring an extra pill (which I don't have enough for). I asked my vet to just switch to prednisone since it was so much cheaper and more effective, and my old dog didn't have any "long term" to worry about anymore. But my vet didn't want to and blamed me for not dosing exactly on schedule as the drug company claims the failure of the drug is almost always due to improper dosing. So I dosed exactly on schedule and 3 days into it, just like before at 1am, she got super itchy and flapped her ears so hard she has an aural hematoma for a THIRD time (a $1000 procedure to fix).

In truth, I think all of Western society is so corrupted it's impossible to fix. We've known about publication bias for ages and publications still won't do it. We've known how funding bias corrupts, forces focus into areas that aren't necessarily going to be productive, and pressures people into p-hacking. We've known about reproduceability crises. Nothing ever gets fixed.

Western Science is at the point where it is essentially dead. New science is a crap-shoot. At this point I don't trust anything done in a Western country after about the year 2000.

After weeks of planning and days of running around, the #[1] unconference has ended, and I think everyone's perspective on the future and present of nostr has evolved.

Communication is one of the growth factors that continuously marks human evolution. Each time humans need to expand their reach, new ways of sharing messages emerge. And nostr is a clear example of that.

The need for a censorship-resistant protocol that gives us back control of our data and thoughts is now giving birth to a safe place where content creators can freely share their art without becoming some big corporation's product. A grassroots V4V approach became more apparent to me during Nostrica.

Understanding the ins and outs of this protocol seemed like an alien thought. Still, after listening to many brilliant players, I am very bullish on the individual value proposition each of us holds.

How lucky I was to meet so many of these bright characters. Therefore this special Nostr Report highlights the work of one of the content creators who give nostr real-life use cases.

Photographers📸 have a way of seeing the mundane turn into art, which is what #[2] did with this series of #Nostrica pictures. Now that calm has reached my corner, these pictures fill my heart with good nostalgia and a boost to create more spaces for others to meet and people like Nela to create art.

Is there a linux photo editor that lets you a/b compare images? Specifically what I want to do is be able to hotkey a "master" photo that I can overlay/dismiss with a tap of the spacebar or whatever while browsing a directory of different (but similar) images. This is to say I always want the hotkey to overlay the same image (the "A" image), but the comparison ("B" image) gets replaced by left/right pgup/pgdown whatever as I browser the directory.
