I think the only place to get genuine quality handmade rugs is either from a dealer or to travel to Iran.

That being said, I've ordered a couple of decent rugs from Amazon.

You tend to get what you pay for.

-Go to Martin's Barbeque on Belmont (there are other locations, but go to Belmont) or Hugh Baby's in Berry Hill.

-Check out Percy Warner Park and Cheekwood at the end of Belle Meade Blvd.

-See the WSM tower at Concord Rd. and I-65 in Brentwood (if you are a fan of the Grand Ole Opry, this is how, on a clear night, it could be heard as far away as Canada and Mexico.

-walk along Radnor Lake in Oak Hill (Otter Creek Rd. off of Granny White Pk.)

Kinda depressed b/c I had to give up on nostr:npub1exv22uulqnmlluszc4yk92jhs2e5ajcs6mu3t00a6avzjcalj9csm7d828 over the weekend😞

Just too many hurdles w/ group chatting with normies. They were kind enough to indulge me in the beginning, but I couldn't bring myself to keep asking them to "do (this) and try it again."

Hey there. Sailing update for anyone interested.

We love our boat, Silver Heels; she has had a lifetime before us and will have another lifetime after us. We chose her because we know she has the capability to take us anywhere in the world we are crazy enough to go, as long as we take care of her. Built in 1979, we knew there would be some repairs and renovations to do, accompanied with a daunting, yet motivating learning curve. Our first season, as expected, but not as hoped, involved more time getting to know the boat than actual sailing.

So far we have repaired and varnished the teak, replaced the dinghy and buoys, varnished the tiller, cleaned and re painted the hull with anti fouling, inventoried and replaced internal equipment, upgraded some navigational and safety equipment, and much more.

Our biggest challenge has been dealing with the original Pisces 40 diesel engine. On the way back from an outing, our exhaust riser decided to give way due to high amounts of corrosion in the cast iron threads. The water exhaust no longer had an exit and slowly began filling the bilge until we noticed. Luckily, we were already in the marina and could kill the engine with relative safety.

We’ve since fixed the exhaust, but in the meantime, our starter motor went kaput. En español, “No funciona”. It is now becoming clear that this engine will remain temperamental for the foreseeable future, and the prospect of a shiny new engine grows more appealing by the day.

Add in learning a new language, navigating jurisdictional bureaucracies, and working full time jobs; it is easy to get restless at times, but we trust with some patience, we’ll be out cruising on the deep blue. 🌊

Finally some #sailing content!

You are living my dream😉

agree with nostr:npub1ejxswthae3nkljavznmv66p9ahp4wmj4adux525htmsrff4qym9sz2t3tv here

how can we move away from the “anything for a bigger follower count” culture?

a solution to this could be a huge differentiator setting nostr apart from any other social media nostr:note17hk89vyw7g0v2m8thqlvsvvgew4nj36drffegz24ehz8u2jqv88sylg4cp

One doesn't need 1M+ people who "like" them when all you need is 1000+ ppl who LOVE you.

I would support an ad model that

1)pays me sats to display the ad in my feed, 2)which is opt-in by default (i.e.- the default setting for the platform is "No Ads," and 3)where enough ad blocks mark an ad as spam and permanemtly remove it (that is, once a certain # of npubs block an ad, it is treated by servers as malicious).

Now zaps aren't showing up in wallet to approve... i hit zap in Amethyst, select the amount, get a curly status circle, then nothing.

Go to Mutiny and there's no zap to approve, and in Amethyst no zap has been recorded🤷🏼‍♂️

I was able (seemingly) to bump the fee a couple days ago, but nothing happened. Finally just tried closing the pending channel; again, no change (still shows pending open). So now I have 1M sats locked up in a channel that will neither open nor close. Thoughts...?
