Upon a little more reflection, I think the thing about missing page numbers, for me, is that without them I find myself distracted by a missing sense of orientation. You're absolutely right that most readers provide that in one way or another; but (at least with the reader I use) that information is only visible on demand. I found myself wondering where in the mag I was, missing the page numbers, then clicking to invoke the information from the reader, and I found that to be a distraction from enjoying your 'zine.
Brilliant!ππ»πππ«πππππ
Hey, Sean,
So I've read and enjoyed a good bit of your issue number four, and skimmed the rest. Some thoughts and observations...
I like the colorful pages. You do a good job keeping the text legible in contrasting colors.
I would like to see explicit page numbering? But, not a dealbreaker.
The Trump article has missing text and a misplaced/duplicate paragraph segment at the bottom of light blue Page 6.
The education articles are good. I was especially glad to find one about radical unschooling. I've passed it along to a Signal group searching for alternatives to public education.
Very happy to learn of the bitcoin search! And I'll be going back to study Lighting Pub...
All in all, nice job! I wish you well...
And yes, let's talk IRL at our mutual convenience.ππ
Thanks for reading and responding.ππ»
I don't mean to suggest that building a parallel society will be fast or easy, but I believe it is worth the effort.
A bitcoin meetup co-leader and I are working on getting a circular bitcoin economy going in our local area. I'm experimenting with various hardware and software tools to facilitate that effort, and hope to report on those here from time to time.
Globally, bitcoin adoption is progressing more or less as projected by game theory. Because it is a far superior money, I think it's reasonable to expect bitcoin to replace fiat to the point where it will become much more difficult for nation-states to pursue wars.
Thanks again for your interaction.ππ»ππ
#Day5 #21DaysOfNostr
Ok Nostr, Let's see what you've got.
Each month I release a Free Digital Magazine. It's called Bitesize Bitcoin Magazine.
Usually, I would release it to my (not really mine) small centrally controlled algorithmic audience on LinkedIn & Twitter. Although, I'm committed to #21DaysOfNostr this month.
This could be a make or break moment for where I publicise the magazine because it needs reach. I've been advised not to focus on Nostr because 'I was told' it hasn't got the same reach as centralised platforms.
The problem I have is that Nostr represents our magazines philosophy. Albeit we are still trying to figure out the tools we should use to show: individualism, self-sovereignty and decentralisation in our work. It's clear this platform should be considered.
Our record (so far) for reach on those centralised platforms is 75 reactions, 21 comments & 9 reposts.
This post represents our 4th issue so it's very new. We currently work with 7 Bitcoin only businesses who advertise for free. And we have 2 more joining us for next months issue. They're a mixture of start ups and established businesses.
Also, I'm not sure how this happened but we have managed to become official media partners to BTCPAY Day in Riga at the end of this month. Which I'm still coming to terms with. We are on their website and everything. Thanks Pav for arranging that!
I built the magazine after attending a Bitcoin conference hosted by Bitcoin Magazine. And it left a bad taste in my mouth.
My thoughts were "Why market yourself as a Bitcoin conference, if you are going to promote fiat instruments, shitcoins and other projects that would mislead any new comers to the space - as well as confusing plebs?"
In my mind, it's clear that the idea of the conference is to create confusion and division because, traditionally, this is what makes money - money backed by decree - fiat money. It's how the Rothschild built their dynasty. Making money on both sides of a war that they created. A method that continues to be successful in modern politics too. Its Proof of Stake, Not Proof of Work.
We don't need more division - we are stronger together.
The establishment knows we are weaker divided.
I haven't built this magazine on my own, it has contributions from some very talented writers. I've made sure that their Lightning Wallets are published with the article they have contributed. It's a value 4 value relationship.
Here's the link to the website and latest issue: https://www.bitesizebitcoin.xyz/issue-no04
Please, Please let me know what you think because the feedback is what makes it better! Both Negative and Positive. It's all love and lessons!
The mission is to get the magazine into all the bitcoin meet ups and events across the globe.
No Noise, Just Signal.

PS I co-host a new local bitcoin meetup in Southern California. We hope to foster a circular bitcoin economy in our area, and I'm experimenting with various tools and demoing them at our meetups...π

I love your heart for bitcoin and self sovereignty. A brief initial scan of your website and magazine is impressive...
I'll try to offer more feedback after a closer look. Feel free to ping me about my year-plus impressions of nostr... In short, I see it as the future of the internet, presently very much in its Wild West phase...π
Looks like the US or Germany will be adding to their #Bitcoin pile after this #Cryptonator shutdown
https://www.theregister.com/2024/08/06/cryptonator_closure_international_operation/
This is a shining example of why we need NWS (Nostr Web Services)... decentralized, non-cancellable/non-seizable domains.
That's pretty wild; thanks for the additional deets!ππ»ππ

From an engineering standpoint, I understand what makes it fill and bend down and pour...π
But I'm still trying to figure out what makes it come back up and reduce the quantity of in the pouring bulb.π€π§β
Very curious!π
βThe Most Dangerous Superstitionβ - Larken Rose
Available on my Tor file server. Great read. The "most dangerous superstition" referred to in the title is the idea of "authority," which includes all belief in "government."
https://ukl4eyjaegwv5dyygzk7e3rpyllqguoouwgosmmmuygm3diz5qva6hyd.local/share/-ZQ0cWOd
"The Most Dangerous Superstition" is without a question one of the most important books that I have ever read.
Even though he is not a Christian, I would cheerfully put Larken Rose in any pulpit in the country. He has a message that everyone needs to hear.
A very important/worthy question...π€
I don't think the answer is quite that binary...
Can you "own" an idea like, f'rinstance, "the wheel?"π€π§β
IMNSHO, *no*, but I do believe in "honor where honor is due" (please see Romans 13:7). At the VERY least, you are due recognition as author/originator of your work.
And (especially now that we have a growing number of communication and micropayment tools) add to that V4V (Value For Value), aka a "gift economy."
If you have benefited from another's invention, and to the degree you are able, strongly consider reciprocating with a 100% VOLUNTARY expression of gratitude for the author/creator's contributions to the well-being and advancement of his fellow man.ππ»πππ«πππ
AKA, Zaappp that good ol' boy!ππ€£ππ
Well, maybe my answer could have been more conciseπ€π... But was it too long to read? What did you think? Any comment(s) or additional questions?π
TLDR:
Stop playing the state's game; worship/follow Jesus as your ONLY ruler; devote your time/life to creating value in this world, NOT to political activity; love everyone--especially your fellow believers AND all your local/accessible community, AKA "neighbors."
Thanks for your time, questions, and your positive feedback.ππ»π
