I need advice on convicing a pleb to move their sats to self custody. I told that person its just an iou and the exchange may not have it later. I told him that being your bank has a lot less complication than using a bank or exchange. I told him, the exchange could decide to remove the transfer button or sell it or just go out of business.
He still wont put it on an his wallet because it's not worth enough yet, and he also like the interest from his debit card he has with this exchange.
I told him about mtgox and many other things that could happen but he seems to not care. Ive talked to him about about bitcoin for quite a while now, i convinced him to buy, but now he needs to move his stack but he sees not point in doing so because he thinks the exchange will be able to adapt so he can use/spend his stack in the future. Wich i think wont happen.
How do i convince him? he understands the potential that bitcoin has, he just wont do self custody. I even showed him how to do so and he was like: thats easy...

Never selling is the way to go, but spending is also not to be forgotten. I think in some years ill spend a little of my stack and what is left will go to my future generations
