Woohoo! That is half of the back of my head on the left! 😆 That was such a great event! Had to heads back toSana Antonio, so we didnt get to be there for the show in that Monday, but we did watch some of the live stream!
No, but welcome from San Antonio,Texas
Finally finished "The Anglo-American Establishment" ! Great way to finish 2024! https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/c257c626a46b5bbd9ac5693a5c89a9370b9029af907e1a2e61015d04c0610da3/1271de10e359ca52cad6c8c67fd940b15fce9b20f27adf873a0610113e827f43.webp
Meat? Eggs? Entertainment? All of the above?
#FYI to anyone who is listing items for sale on a NIP-99 based Marketplace, such as on #Amethyst, #Shopstr, or Cyber.Space:
You absolutely WILL miss sales if you are not using a client that supports NIP-17 DMs. This is because Shopstr only notifies you of sales using this DM spec and sends you the payment as eCash tokens retrievable via said DM.
If you can't receive NIP-17 DMs, you will never know that the payment has been sent, but the buyer will still be out the sats.
There are plenty of clients that now support NIP-17 DMs. Here are a few:
#Amethyst
#Coracle
#0xChat
Why has Shopstr made this decision? Because NIP-17 DMs are quite a bit more private than NIP-04 DMs, since less metadata is leaked. Similarly, eCash as an in-between for payment is great for receiver privacy, which is not great by default on Lightning. Yet because there are still several popular clients that do not support NIP-17 (maybe waiting for something even better that nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7erfw36x7tnsw43z7un9d3shjqpqzuuajd7u3sx8xu92yav9jwxpr839cs0kc3q6t56vd5u9q033xmhsz294jr is working on?) it creates a frustrating experience for both buyers and sellers.
thanks for the info for us newbies!
The Case for Nostr becoming inevitable:
After much deliberation, research, and reflection on the evolving landscape of data sharing, social media, and privacy, I’ve decided it’s time to give Nostr a legitimate chance. The centralized nature of today’s communication platforms has brought undeniable convenience to us all, but at a steep cost. One measured in censorship, surveillance, and the commodification of our digital selves. In this paradigm, free expression is constrained by algorithms, and ownership of one’s voice feels more like a privilege than a right.
Nostr, with its decentralized ethos, seems to be the antithesis of that. From what I am watching unfold, it’s a protocol designed for the future of communication, where ideas are being shared freely and individuals are reclaiming control over their digital identities.
Why Nostr Matters Now?
As the world debates questions about privacy, freedom, and the monopolization of information, Nostr seems to offer a refreshing alternative. Instead of relying on centralized servers owned by corporations, its use of relays ensure no single entity can control the flow of information.
The protocol's promise has already inspired great people I respect and get advise from such as Jack Dorsey, Matt Odell, and Max Webster, who champion it as a movement. They understand that decentralization isn’t just a technical choice but far beyond, it’s a philosophical stance.
For those of us operating at the intersection of Bitcoin, fintech, and culture, this philosophy resonates deeply. Bitcoin decentralized money; Nostr seems to be decentralizing communication.
Nostr and My Mission
My focus has always been on fostering meaningful connections, especially in regions like Mexico and Latin America, where digital freedom and financial inclusion are not abstract ideals, they’re necessities. For now, platforms like Twitter remain vital because they serve as gathering places for much of my audience and what I am building. However, as Nostr grows, I see it as a bridge to the future, a place where our voices can thrive without interference or compromise.
In adopting Nostr, I’m not abandoning the tools of today. I’m doubling down on building for tomorrow.
How You Can Join Me and help me in this nostr journey:
Let’s connect and grow together!
To those who have already embraced Nostr, your advocacy has paved the way for people like me to join. To those who are curious, it’s time to explore what a decentralized protocol can mean for your voice and your community.
Twitter/X will still be a cornerstone of my strategy, especially for reaching my audience in Mexico & Latam, but I’m committing to using Nostr heavily from here on out. It’s where ideas will flow freely, and innovation can thrive without gatekeepers.

Very well said Sir! I concur! This is the direction I'm going as well, though it will take me a little longer to move off some of the other social platforms. However, I'm going to try to bring as many as I can with me to NOSTR and if no one comes along, I will trudge onward because "touching grass" is so much nicer over here on NOSTR and with more meaning.
GM Noster Land!
2024 was a good year for me as far as focusing on my goals and studying ₿itcoin and using NOSTR! It has been so great to find this community of like-minded folks who are bettering themselves, encouraging others, creating the world they want to live in, and that makes going into 2025 all that more exciting! Thanks Everyone! #happynewyear
I've used FlorisBoard, just don't remember why I stopped. I think it didn't have some features I was looking for at the time. Maybe I should revisit it.
I've been using OpenBoard, but don't mined doing keyboard hoppin' if it has all the features I like.
nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z live-stream comments from Amethyst don't seem to be working
Agreed! I'm on Linux/grapheneOS and mainly use Amethyst. Still new to NOSTR and trying to figure it out, but Amethyst does seem to have some bugs when posting images/videos and comments/replies. Can't put my finger on it yet, but still testing/learning.
Took a looky at X today. I liked that last Trending topic. So I came back to NOSTR to share! #UseNOSTR #YouAreTheMedia
