Is there an establish mechanism for converting credit card payments directly to bitcoin?
I’m envisioning a cash on delivery payment practice for physicians where patients pay at the time of the visit.
Most (elderly) patients will not have access to bitcoin but will have credit cards.
Is there a company that provides a device that converts credit card payments directly to bitcoin for the accepting physician?
I’ve given the talk 2 times now
Relatively well received
However
Medscape says 59% docs now in favor of unions
I ask
Is a union even in accord with a physician as a professional (ie can you profess anything and be part of a union)???
I have an opportunity to talk to younger residents.
I am somewhat convinced
1- low time preference and
2- small daily habits with a focus on long term life or avoiding ruin
Will / do
a) create implicit “contracts” with myself in the future and such contracts
b) reduce present anxiety or eliminate risk to burnout.
Anyone know of non anecdotal science suggesting such future orientation actually helps in medicine?
W/ respect thx
I think about these situations a lot.
When I think someone very ill is younger than me, it assumes import on the 1st face of growth - personal physical increase in time and space. And in that facet - I will likely outgrow him or her.
But the other faces of growth I think make us human are
- mental / intellectual (growth in knowledge)
- Social / emotional (growth in friends / family / social contacts)
- spiritual (non physical)
Growth in any of these facets is life worth saving / preserving. But while the 1st facet is the required foundation for all the others, it’s also the only face of growth that has to end at death.
W/ respect I thought
1- bitcoin used to not exist; so current price of bitcoin x current number = fiat that did leave the banking system
2- bitcoin is still being mined so every new bitcoin mined and sold = fiat that does leave the banking system
3- fractional reserve banking means every fiat $ leaving a bank reduced bank fiat by x10 or more? Even if the bitcoin seller gets fiat for the bitcoin, the fiat may not be re deposited into the bank, fast enough, before that fractional leverage has impact ?
I am probably in error somewhere here.
“Listen, and understand.
That bitcoin is out there.
It can’t be bargained with.
It can’t be reasoned with.
It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.”
Kyle Reese, talking to fiat.
(W/respect to the movie, ‘Terminator’; got this quote stuck in my head)

2022 APA press release on stress in America.
2 excerpts:
“—Adults who feel their rights are under attack:
Populations with elevated proportions feeling this way include:
LGBTQIA+: 72%
adults with a disability: 68%
women: 67%
White adults: 67%
Black adults: 66%”
(Opinion: High and in most cases uniform rates)
“—Inflation is a source of stress:
U.S. adults 83%”
(Opinion: Extremely high though I do not have previous years for context)
Caveat: Always many many many problems with these surveys; though in this case results seem to match word on the street.
Opinion: Inflation and erosion of rights seem contributors to illness now or soon; patients may require / benefit from solutions.

W/respect it has been very welcoming, friendly to me
W/respect: so if my math is correct, any one person in custody of 1 bitcoin is around only about 1 million higher end custodians in the world, which has 8 billion people, which means they are one of only 0.000125 with that degree of custody (0.0125%)?
W/ respect the two seem not mutually exclusive? When some entrepreneur creates a “nostr_phone” that has only 3 functions - node running (whatever variety the caller speaks of), Damus app and a lightening wallet (?) with whatever operating system and connectivity that knowledgeable privacy experts here deem safe then I bet adoption would be huge by those who want to help. I could be wrong but apple iphone showed me that producing what people need in a streamlined model achieved vast rapid adoption. Maybe not the best analogy I don’t know but I think there is something there.
W/ respect: my limited understanding of self custody of bitcoin is that as energy (and thus a physical thing) true equity (in the in vogue sense) is impossible. What bitcoin Sarah has custody of/ keys to right now, Fred cannot have custody of (in the same way and at the same time). Akin to a chair- where Sarah sits, Fred cannot sit (in the same way and at the same time). I do not believe this is different for any physical things.
Differently, information on how to access bitcoin can and should be equitable. As a non physical thing, the _idea_ of how to acquire it can be held by many (infinite) as long as the have a non physical means to receive the idea (intellect).
Thus while it’s futile to pursue equitable distribution of self custody of coin, it would be possible to pursue equitable distribution of the means to self custody. Am I in error or is this sound ? #docchain
W/ Respect: fascinating idea and company suite of projects. Seems like an amazing solution to bridging security and need for millions without safe access. Is the company thought highly of ?
Respectfully Dr Bitcoin - I am using Damus. I am unfortunately thoroughly unqualified to help beyond that.

“
1) Am I putting thought into action? - Pretty self explanatory but amazing how easy it is without a simple reminder to think about the things you want and then do nothing. (Action changes this. Even if you don't have all the answers, your learning increases as a by-product of that action)
2) Am I setting new and interesting goals? - There is no stasis. We are either growing or dying. Without new and interesting goals we easily become bored and start going backwards.
3) Am I visualizing my goals? - Making your goals more vivid and real allows your subconscious to work on your goals and to recognize the needed resources needed to achieve your dreams.
4) Am I stretching my comfort zone? - We naturally narrow what we are comfortable with over time - telling ourselves stories that we are not good at that or could never do that. Stretching your comfort zone is when you do things that put you into an uncomfortable state - where most of the learning and fun starts.
5) Am I happy with what I have? - Gratitude!! One of the most important things in living a full life. I remember a specific trip while travelling through Indonesia and Nepal in the late 1990's where it felt like I met some of the happiest people on the planet - who also lived with next to nothing. Want success? - Truly celebrate success in others and give gratitude for all the things you already have.
6) Am I filling my mind with positive self talk? - 99% of our time is spent inside our own heads, telling stories about ourselves and others. Want to exponentially increase how you show up in life? - start by making sure the stories inside your own head are good ones.
7) Am I being a positive force for others? - It is our impact on other people that truly counts our lives. Asking a question every day that forces you to think about your impact on others is a sure way to increase your positive impact.
8) Are my actions the same as my values? - We have all met people who say one thing - do another, which is the ultimate in hypocrisy. Asking this question every day ensures you are not one of them. It allows you to make the "harder right" decisions versus the "easier wrong"
9) Am I staying in balance? - While there may never be perfect balance - the question forces a deeper question of why you choose to do the things you do. That deeper question allows you to understand your choices. For example: I have too often seen executives convince themselves that they are "doing it for their family" when the thing their family cares about most is their time - Only to realize when it is too late. Want to know what you value - look at your calendar. It does not lie.
10) Am I focused and persistent? - Learning anything takes time and commitment. Even these 10 questions - which have led to much more learnings than I could ever list in an article - took a dedication to actually doing them over years to achieve the cummunlative benefit from them.
Hope they are helpful to you as they have been to me

Respect to Jeff Booth I heard about this lost on your podcast interview on “what is money” with Robert Breedlove and found the list on a post you made at linked in and copied them below.
Much thanks. (Tried to zap this thanks but apparently I am unable).
Respectfully help a newbie out; how do I post to say #docchain only? Using Damus / iPhone it seems I can see post and replies on “home” and post there; or search hashtag docchain and post replies. On home I do not see posts to doc chain though…..
