Quite many in nostr have a regular fiat endervours too. Vitor Pampalona for example is quite a notable nostrich, Amethyst client main dev. And still got his fiat business rugpulled in the ongoing bank mayhem.

I have started to feel like the sats have a different valuation in nostr than what the official market price suggests. I mean that 1000sats does not feel like 20$cents but in valuation closer to a dollar.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it just the anticipation of future possibilities that I am counting in?

Anyway, nostr zaps have made it intuitive to think value in satoshis - independent of "currency conversion" rate. This is a great leap towards wider usage.

So all hope is now lost? Let's just make the best out of the time we have left before our inevitable fate.

Yes. Trading the promise to not pay you anything to a contract that "ambitiously" tries keep the same value as the original promise to pay you nothing.

Honest answer: they are hard to use.

When I first got involved in bitcoin in 2019ish, I looked at bisq - but was not able to have a computer on for extended perioids of time. Also, I had no bitcoin to start with.

Then i did an account to "localcrypto.com'. After a few unsuccesful bitcoin buy attempts and continuos email spam, I gave up on that.

Eventually I had to surrender my privacy to CB. Even there I have the problem that fiat only moves 8h a day in five days.

Robosats is an interesting one. The problem is however, is not with BTC but with the fiat movement. How to do it so that my bank does not suspend me for money laundering.

The puzzling realization in the article was: Two Billion daily Meta users! There ia 8B people on planet and less than 6B use the internet.

Then I understood: Watsapp!

SMS is dead and Meta basically owns its former user base.

Imagine logging into metasocial (formerly known as facebook&instagram) by using nos2x extension.

I'm unsure on this issue, especially if one has a mortage with a reasonably low fixed intrest.

Upsides in paying off early:

- Freedom - problems in banking industry cannot effect you. There is a clause in the mortage that bank can denounce the contract in a liquity crisis and demand full payment almost immidiately.

- In a possible personal financial troubles, the less loan you have, the easier it is to make moves.

Upsides in keeping high loan value.

- Inflation inevitably eats the real world value of your loan, so it gets easier to pay off over time.

-In the short run you will have more money to use or stack sats with.

But respect to you for keeping this in discussion. Not your keys, not your coins.

I have 3 different LN wallets on where together I only keep less than a few hundred thousand sats. I have nostr patment adress set up using a different service (vida) provider so it is not tied to WoS.

WoS rugpull would mean less than 100k loss for me. I could easily recover from that :D

As mentioned here already, the paid relays main use case is that you view global feed only from them, and thus getting less spam. But it is also a good way to keep relay operators monteized - which is important to allow scaling.

I suppose now as you have higher ping to the .eden and other USA-based relays, so you get most of the posts already from other relays. It just might be that these are the not even queried from the payrelays? This is just my guess - I have not checked how it is actually implemented.

Amethyst has quite good filtering in global even for public relays. I paid for few too but have stuck to "full" global .

I am not. I just won 1k sats from a coin toss bot so now I can zap for free for few hours..
