bitcoiner, privacy enthusiast, nix user. Not setting zaps until there is non-DNS based way to do it.

That's ignoring the Cantillon effect. Businesses in closer proximity to the new money will benefit in terms of purchasng power at the expense of everyone else.

"In other words, the first sectors to receive the newly created money

enjoy higher profits as their pay increases, but general costs are still

low. On the other hand, the last sectors in which prices rise (where

there is more economic friction) face higher costs while still producing

at lower prices."

Don't forget not to consolidate your mixed coins together into the same denomination that you started with

Lyn Alden taught me that the Bretton Woods system which was ended in 1971 was doomed to failure in it very inception, since it allowed for domestic depegging of the dollar from gold, while still promising to settle in gold internationally.

I feel ecash could take over this role. If you want to be sovereign your wallet can immediatedy redeem any ecash you recieve for lightning. The advantage being fast onboarding for new users, improved privacy, ability to send payments via any secure messaging channel, half offline payments. Fedi tokens are also redeemable onchain if needed. Most actual transfers would still take place over lightning in the backend anyway.

Does it only work for apps on the same device, or could you use a web client on a desktop and sign notes with the phone?

I heard they want to ban this from schools in Florida. Shocking.

Zaps are a perfect usecase for ecash. You can recieve offline, and then exchange them for LN bitcoin immediately on logging in, if you don't trust the mint.

Has anyone exteral to the holepunch/Pear team analysed the protocol for viability? What are the tradeoffs, potential weaknesses, privacy or scalability issues?
