We should adopt SI prefixes when talking about BTC. Speaking in BTC terms using decimals is confusing. We already speak in terms of sats, so let’s apply the SI prefixes to satoshis.
If BTC = $58,000
1 sat = $0.00058
1 ksat (kilosat) = 1000 sats = $0.58
1 Msat (megasat) = 1,000,000 sats = $580
1 Gsat (gigasat) = 1,000,000,000 sats = $580,000
1 Tsat (terasat) = 1,000,000,000,000 sats = $580,000,000
1 Psat (petasat) = 1,000,000,000,000,000 = $580,000,000,000
We can refer to small purchases in ksats, for example, a $6 cup of coffee would cost a little over 10 ksat.
Use Msats for larger purchases like rent, vehicles, etc. $2000 of rent would be about 3.5 Msat. A $15,000 car would be about 26 Msat. There are 100 Msats in a bitcoin.
Use Gsats to refer to large amounts of money, in place of millions of dollars. There are 10 BTC in one Gsat
Use Tsats in place of billions of dollars. There are 10,000 BTC in one Tsat.
A Psat at today’s value represents $580 billion, but it is 10 million BTC. This is too big of an amount to be useful, as nobody has a Psat.
As value goes up, so too will the value of each denomination. If a Msat is $580 at BTC = $58,000, then a Msat will be $10,000 at BTC = $1,000,000. At BTC = $1,000,000, one sat = one cent. At this point, a hsat (hectosat) would represent a dollar, if a dollar had enough value to be relevant.
We are so early, I think anybody who is active today on Nostr and remains active over the next 5-10 years will be major influencers on the network. It will snowball as adoption grows

Nostr and other platforms like Fountain will destroy ad based revenue.
Ad deals may still be lucrative, but there will be no need for free services to be supported by ads when a small percentage of consumers leaving a 1.2¢ (21 sat) tip on a post could result in 7.6x the revenue that X provides via ads.

I don’t think monetization is an issue. I think the only thing preventing monetization like that is scale.
While we don’t know impression numbers on Nostr, you will get paid about $4-8 per million impressions on X.
Let’s take the upper range, $8/million impressions. On X, if you have 1.5 billion impressions in a month, you will make about $12,000 in revenue at $8/million impressions.
Now let’s look at Nostr. Let’s say 0.5% of people zap a post with 21 sats. This means that for 1 million impressions, you will have 5000 zaps, totaling 105,000 sats. 105 ksat is around $61. This means you would be paid around $61 per million impressions.
So, on Nostr, if you could pull in 1.5 billion impressions in a month, you would make around 157.5 Msat, or $91,300, if only 0.5% of viewers left a 21 sat zap.
That is 7.6x as much as you would make on X. We are so early to Nostr. The most zapped posts are probably only getting thousands of impressions. I feel that the zap rate would be much higher than 0.5%, but if it were only 0.1%, you would still make more than on X. Ad revenue on X is a joke.
Micropayments will destroy ad revenue based services. We will still see advertiser deals like you see on podcasts. Certain types of content, like videos, would see a higher rate of payment than simple tweet style posts.
The ability to monetize via zaps will become extremely attractive as the network grows.
Others are trying to implement micropayments via third party apps and a link in your bio. They aren’t even close to what Nostr offers.
Direct micropayments, no censorship, no ads, algorithm choice. Nothing comes close to Nostr.

I think the only time you link to a legal ID is when you set up a lightning wallet. There are ways around this but most people will dox themselves when they do this.

Make fake Brazilian accounts and go and post about whatever it was they considered disinformation. Switch VPN to Brazilian servers
