Need a VPS but donât want to dox yourself and pay with bitcoin?
Just buy a cheap second hand thinkpad with al least 16gb memory, slap a 1 or 2tb SSD in it, install Linux on it and you can run your own node. It even has a âbuilt in battery backupâ

I think just like the eCash Wallet it store the data locally. Best is to save it to the Home Screen and use it as a PWA app. Not sure how to backup the data in case you wipe the local storage or lose your phone.
Question: when you scan a QR code on an iPhone, does this get uploaded or saved somewhere on Appleâs servers or does it stay local on the phone. Could not find it easily.

Use it on your desktop machine to securely sign in to Nostr or use it as a hardware wallet with LNbits.
Itâs a very secure method of protecting your bitcoin but itâs so secure that you might do something wrong and end up losing your funds. Be warned!

Good morning nostr:npub1tsgw6pncspg4d5u778hk63s3pls70evs4czfsmx0fzap9xwt203qtkhtk4! Can you help me set-up a Bitcoin core node?
Dave seems to be Out of Office, best option is to read this guide.

After that download Bitcoin Core, but make sure you verify the download before installing it. https://bitcoincore.org/en/download/
If you donât have a fixed internet connection itâs probably not the best idea to run a Lightning Node with lots of funds at home.
Since you are a beginner there are 2 good options.
1. Get an older laptop with at least 8gb of memory and at least 1 TB SSD and install Ubuntu on it , or try to get a Raspberry Pi 4 with 8gb and 1 TB SSD. On both you can install Umbrel. Make sure you have it placed somewhere where there is a stable internet connection during the initial blockchain download, this might take some days till a week.
2. If you just want to play with a Lightning node and donât want to buy any hardware go to https://voltage.cloud and rent a Lightning node in the cloud for about 10 dollars a month, this is by far the easiest a quickest way to get started. But this doesnât give you a private bitcoin node that you want to connect to your Sparrow Wallet. After a couple of months you can decide if you want to invest in the hardware.
