Yeah, on reflection it was more stomach burn from spice than regular "heart burn."

I don't get heartburn from grease, I just get the runs. :o

I remember when I was compiling kernels in the early 2000s, I would usually throw the AppleTalk module in to show my classic Mac friends, for posterity 😆 Hello, are you there? 😏

That's cool.

I've had a lot of trouble mounting HFS+ on linux, but I might be doing it wrong. Or it may be that HFS is supported, but HFS+ not so much. I dunno.

When transferring my old mac backups onto Linux, I've had to copy everything to an intermediary exFAT partition. :/

#WorldBuilding #WritingPrompt:

Alternate reality where Earth's gravity is upside down.

Life evolved in cave systems.

What happened when the first humans made their way out of the caves?

Did they ever develop structures to live on the "ground?"

How?

What is their religion like?

What does outer space look like with negative gravity? (Is it negative only on earth?)

Is space travel unidirectional?

What is architecture like?

I do want to say one thing about mac apps, particularly proper Mac OS X era first-party apps (before the crap iOSification of everything).

Mac apps were both very powerful, AND easy-to-use. Not OR.

In Linux-land, it's mainly OR. #Gnome thinks that having more than four options (or a proper menubar for goodness sakes) is anathema, and KDE (which I do love) is just married to complexity.

*The demonstration iMac was glowing because of strong illumination from the podium shining through the iMac and mouse. I didn't know the unit itself didn't glow until much later. Also, total potato quality videos back then (trivia: it wasn't viewed in a web browser, but either downloaded and then viewed in QuickTime, or perhaps streamed in QT itself.

The Web didn't get video until about 2004 when Flash Player added video feature, and then in base HTML around roughly 2008.

No, the American Dream properly was:

1) Get a High School Diploma

2) Get a solid job for life

3) Get married

4) Get a house

5) Have kids

6) Picket fences

7) Retire with a minimum of debt

That was the American Dream, and it is DEAD.

Update on my new phone (and Android ROM adventures):

I'm liking GrapheneOS' enhanced security features, but there are quality-of-life features I really miss from #CalyxOS:

* Flashlight gesture

* Quick settings pull-down gesture (pull down from corner go straight to quick settings)

* Accessibility magnifier gesture (instead of the obnoxious little floating button)

* MicroG (YES. As an option. I'd like a ROM that has all three: No GSF, Fake GSF (MicroG), Sandboxed GSF)

Yikes. :(

What I will say about Obtanium is that it doesn't try to update packages that it didn't install in the first place.

Ahh, I see. So you don't even have to register. That's nice.

Does it work so well that you don't need uBlock Origin?

Sweet!

Around 2010-2014 was kind of a golden era for RC. The battery technology and electrical motors started getting really good, and people weren't terrified of drones yet.

Nowadays, you have to fly in a club airfield or be out in the country. :/

You can always call. I'd do that, but my phone isn't letting me make phone calls. :/

Did you know there's a simplenote cli? look for "sncli" in your os packages, or just do a pipx install sncli

You're right, it's not as organized as a wiki, although it *does* support internal links -- but there's still no hierarchical structure to the notes.

Is there any way to download la vortaro as a plain text file?
