It’s not a lie, it’s just reality. Let’s say exchanging crypto on decentralised exchanges becomes illegal but you continue to do it. Then you get audited, the government asks you for a paper trail on how your bitcoin income was converted to cash, they determine you committed a crime, and then you go to prison.

i'm fairly certain most of us could be tortured to the point of giving up private key locations and info.

this is why security through obscurity (not flaunting your wealth and not overtly threatening those in current power) is the best path at the moment

I think people who are comfortable using a centralized custodial crypto exchange would be comfortable with having their keys hosted if they had a TOS about how they owned them and kept a backup copy offline. Most early adopters wouldn’t do that but normal people would.

Canadian Shakepay users (disclaimer: I don’t keep my funds on the exchange). As I’m sure many of you have noticed, they are now asking users to fill out a mandatory “risk profile” questionnaire, likely because they recently got their “private dealer” license (think that’s what it’s called).

Anyhow, not shitting on Shakepay because I’m a fan BUT, if you want to avoid filling out that profile you can shake your phone, which will open you shaker stats. Then, tap “back” and it’ll bypass the questionnaire… for now 😉
