Some day the (BTC) selling stops, the printing won't..
testing zaps for this noteβ¦ we made six attempts toβ‘zap this note, at basvk@speed.app, over a period of 38 minutes. Six of the zaps were successfully paid... please check for 6 satoshis received. problem: we found that your lightning address server **did not* properly produce zap receipts, and/or didn't send the zap receipts to the relays specified in the zap. (the zap spec requires that the zap receipts be sent to the relays specified in the zap.) this means a nostr user who zaps you might not see a number appearing next to the β‘ icon after zapping.... if you wanted to fix this... you could try getting a free rizful lightning address -- https://rizful.com ... if u get it set up, pls reply here so we can do this β‘zap test again.
I put in a different adress. Please zap test again
Chapter 7: UTXO's
After buying/earning my sweet bitcoin and having transferred it to cold storage I learned about UTXO mangement. For long I did not understand the meaning but it comes down to keeping your wallet organized in big chunks of Bitcoin.
Fortunately I had the balls of transferring larger chunks (1mil sats+) of bitcoin from the exchange to my cold storage wallet. No real need to consolidate smaller chunks to larger chunks. I did it once using Sparrow wallet. Super easy so try it out!
I do like round numbers in my bank account and also in my hardware wallet (for example 0.1 btc instead of 0.104256). But that was pretty difficult to achieve. I had to create a larger utxo in the hardware wallet and transfer the surplus minus fee back to a hot wallet. If you are like me this method will save you time, headaches and fees π
Now I am stacking on the lightning/liquid network using Strike or Aqua wallet and when I have more than 1 million sats it is transferred to my cold storage (and messing my round number up again).
Chapter 6: lightning wallets
I tried a lot of lightning wallets and found out it is usefull but not perfect. The wallets I tried and tested:
Breez
Easy on the eyes. I used an old LN link to send my BTC to and that got me scared. Support told me to wait for a popup. The popup came and managed to retreive the funds. It is a nice wallet if you plan on selling due to the vendor option. I did have a lot of errors when sending sats from this wallet to another wallet (no route error). Also I got a recurring notification I could not get rid of. So I ditched this one.
Zeus
Horrible interface deleted after install
Phoenix
Very nice non-custodial wallet with a lot of stuff I do not yet understand. Opening up and expanding channel space was fun to try out. I use this now for securing sats that I earn in the ZBD app.
Aqua
My favorite one. I trust this wallet the most somehow to send my DCA and love the fact I can view my funds in the blockstream app and convert it to BTC. I use this app to onboard others. But i dont like the higher fees and the fact the amounts cannot be shown in Sats. They told me this is coming in a next update.
Strike
Had to install in order to DCA from my bank account. I love that I can buy sats this way via a normal bank wire when I feel like it. Small fee applies and none when you automatically DCA (I dont). The sats I directly transfer to aqua to have it into my own custody. This wallet to me is more like a gateway.
Speed wallet
Nice for earning sats and quick small transactions
Bottom line: I really like the wallets that are non-custodial with speed wallet as an exeption for earning sats and quick/cheap transacting. Hope this info gives you some guidance. Try it out!
Chapter 5: onboarding my girlfiend
My girlfriend and I keep our personal finances to ourselves. Once she discovered I bought some bitcoin some years ago she got interested. I never really tried to convince her because I know she does not have spare cash lying around. When she asked me how to buy Bitcoin I told here not to at first. Only invest money you are willing to lose right?
The second time she asked me I saw the Fomo in her eyes and the genuine desire to understand. I learned the hard way not to DCA to a hard wallet (due to UTXO's, I will talk about that later) so I suggested she saves in bitcoin on layer 2. Then she started to ask more questions, nice!
When it was her birthday and couldn't think of a present I decided to create an Aqua wallet for her on her phone which I was allowed access to. Then at the celebration dinner I gave her the 12 words and how to unlock her nice stash on the phone. She was actually over the moon!
What I did not tell her at the time is that I also set up a view-only wallet so I could track her balance. After a nice run up I told her she made X amount of unrealised profit. After explaning what that means she told me: 'darn it - I wish I added more to my stack right away'. A sentiment I think all bitcoiners can relate to.
This might be a good example on how to onboard a person that shows interest! Try it and let me know :)

Chapter 4: earning sats
I was pleased to hear sats can be earned via mobile games. I never play mobile games apart from Solitaire. Turns out I was using the wrong app/game. Time to start earning! I tried a few games and to save you time I created catogories and have some examples:
1) Low earning - not capped. Fun but the sats dont poor in.
- Club bitcoin solitaire
- Bitcoin snake
- Turbo '84
- Tetro tiles
- Bitcoin pusher (feels like it got nerfed)
- Bitcoin gun game (best looking)
- ZBD poll
2) Capped quick earners (my favorites)
- Bitcoin miner (100 sats per day almost guaranteed)
- Idle mine (100 sats per day, needs some clicking around)
3) Minimum earned sats needed to withdraw (also nice but needs patience)
- Smiles (earn sats for walking and I use the free spinner/satoshi tower, need 5000 to withdaw)
- Ember (fun to gamble a little, need 10.000 to withdraw)
- Bitcoin bay, Bitcoin sudoku, word breeze, Bitcoin blocks (need 20k points to withdraw a couple sats)
- Cointiply
4) Adnoying - avoid these
- Yzer (withdrew sats but never got em)
- Quick screw puzzle
- Spring tiles matching
5) Bingo
- Via ZBD: Dice dreams, Monopoly (cant find them anymore though, just pick the highest earners)
Have fun trying some out!
Chapter 3: altcoin staking
When investing I thought I had to put money in bonds too. To get yield. This is something I thought like most tech stocks, crypto does not offer. But it turned out altcoins do, yay let's try how that works and skip the bonds altogether! I bought some Ethereum and Polkadot to do some testing. Once I transfered my bitcoin to a different device (Jade) to up my security I had an empty ledger device left lying around. So I sent my Eth and Dot to it and was ready to press the staking button.
ETH- pooled staking
It turned out you need like 32 eth to get native staking. I missed that boat. The second option was to stake via a ledger third party app. To be honest this did not seem like a good idea. But curious to try it out I staked in a staking pool via Kiln. Until now I am not disappointed. The staking runs smoothly and shows up on the earn tab in ledger. Nice!
DOT - native staking
I got enough Polkadot to do some native staking. Cool - finally I can try that stuff too. A little more steep learning curve but managed to get the funds 'bonded' and staking via Ledger and Chrome. This was a lot of fun! I could nominate where to stake it, check all the validator stats. See screen shots below. Would highly recommend for you to try this out some time! The only downside is that the staking returns of DOT do not (yet) show up in the Ledger earn tab.

nostr:npub103m96sra82w4agghew9cdxtzs4s8sl7qsjsvw6h653yml0gjrkzqefd3h5 Hi Jor I watch your shows and started a little blog. I found out how to tag you. Would you mind reading it when you have the time and give feedback?
Chapter 2: the big bitcoin beginning
Normal people need stuff. A house, a car, money to provide (a lot off) stuff to a child, money to have on the side or pay off student loans. In short: a shit ton of money. I have been working years to get what I needed to get. Once I got there I felt space (in my mind) to look at investing. Like most I tried stocks, got rekt and tried some more stocks. But in the weekends I got bored with it because there is no price action. And weekends for me are the perfect moment to trade or stare at numbers. Once I got the memo that Bitcoin is not just a payment system but also insanely scarce I bought a considerable amount on an exchange (too much for comfort). I left it there for a while until I understood the cold storage part. Transfered small amounts to it at first and then all of it (nerve wracking). I felt I got my shit together and passed the bitcoin super nerd rite of passage. It was fun to try and good to find out I could track the value of your cold storage on my phone. Hope you got this far too!
Chatper 1: trying crypto for the first time
I consider myself a fairly early adopter of new and usefull technology. As a kid I was having arguments with my dad on the usecase of gps navigation (I won that one dad). However, I did not see a use case for crypto. Due to lack of knowledge. Then an article appeared saying it is now possible to send money across the world feeless. That got me intruiged. So I set up a Nano wallet to try it out. User interface was horrible but managed to buy yhe coins on an edchange and send them to the wallet. When the price rose I swapped it for a voucher and considered it a succesfull test!
Fixed my profile picture yay (with second link on postimages.org).
It did work in oxchat. Still early days I guess..
Why does my Nostr stuff not load in Primal?
