Strike is awesome, too! I used to use Wallet of Satoshi back before they pulled out of the US market. The Start9 and AlbyHub suggestion is a fairly easy way to setup non-custodial wallet.

In addition to using it as a custodial Lightning wallet, I especially like the ability in Strike to spend from cash balance and have the recipient receive Bitcoin. You get to convert wealth from fiat into BTC, and since you’re spending USDs there isn’t a taxable event.

There are LOTS of ways to roll your own, depending on budget. I like the team at nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll, so instead of loading their open source StartOS onto an old laptop, I bought one of their servers to support the company. Buying a plug and play server isn’t as cheap as using an old laptop, but they are VERY turnkey, and as a bonus I’m supporting a company with freedomtech principles. You’ll likely want to install Bitcoin Knots ( nostr:npub1wnlu28xrq9gv77dkevck6ws4euej4v568rlvn66gf2c428tdrptqq3n3wr lists lots of reasons to use Bitcoin Knots over Bitcoin Core), electrs, LND, and AlbyHub to be able to use a noncustodial Lightning wallet. But you’ll probably also install many other services to self host your own password manager and a cloud backup for your phone, computers, and devices.

It still surprises me how many Nostriches, who have lightning wallets connected to their npub, only use the like button and don’t even set a nominal token zap of like 21 sats to use instead of likes.
