I've been enjoying using the Misty apk with its simple and straightforward interface for lightning. Thank you! I did however have an issue with receiving from main chain. Developers/support provided refund, again thank you. But afraid to use for main chain lightning swap until apk upgraded from pre-release status where it's been since August. Any love in store for the Misty apk?

The video seems to keep skipping every few seconds. Does anyone else notice this? Sorry, not willing to watch with that effect

⚠ BITCOIN CORE v30.0, PLEASE READ ⚠

HOW TO INSTALL?

1. Stop Bitcoin.

3. Download "bitcoind.s9pk" from the bitcoin-core-startos Github release page. https://github.com/Start9Labs/bitcoin-core-startos/releases/tag/v30.0

4. In StartOS, navigate to System -> Sideload a Service

5. Upload bitcoind.s9pk

WHY DOWNLOAD INSTEAD OF MARKETPLACE?

Knots and Core share the same ID. This allows dependent services, such as lightning, to use either one. It also allows people to switch between them without needing to resync the blockchain.

Due to a bug in StartOS 0.3.5.1, if either service goes up in version, it will show as an "update" for the other service. This sucks and has caused people to think StartOS is trying to trick them into switching. To minimize confusion and mistakes, we release new versions of Knots and Core in parallel and require explicit action for switching. Not ideal, but a decent stop gap until StartOS 0.4.0.

Because there is no Knots v30.0, listing Core 30.0 on the marketplace would result in Knots users forever seeing Core v30.0 as a "update". As such, we are making Core v30.0 available as a download/sideload instead of listing it on the marketplace.

Regardless of what you may want, you're primary use case is to run a bitcoin node. So users running your software for this use case that are running bitcoin core will not know that they are not running the latest version. Do you have any plan to remedy this situation? I hope it's not to have us just continue waiting for 0.4.0 since we've already been waiting two years since the last update. nostr:nprofile1qqsqfjg4mth7uwp307nng3z2em3ep2pxnljczzezg8j7dhf58ha7ejgpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcprfmhxue69uhhxetwv35hgtnwdaekvmrpwfjjucm0d5hszxthwden5te0wpex2mtfw4kjuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcuauf96

I am a big liquid fan for multiple reasons. That said, liquid bitcoin is held in custody by the liquid federation, and permission from a federation member is necessary to "peg out" back to main chain bitcoin. This is seamlessly handled by the wallet software. Fees a little high for small amounts, but increasingly minimal as amounts diminish significance of base fee. I am a current user of Misty Breez.

Can apps in private spaces see what apps are installed in the parent user space and/or vice versa? Is it still not possible to use an external usb stick with a private space? Thank you for all you do 🙏

So, one's data is protected by encryption. Might it be possible for that encryption to be broken in the future? If so, if one wants to protect against that possibility, is it possible for one to request deletion of one's data? I understand there would be trust involved that that data is fully deleted, but I would still prefer the option to request deletion 🙏

Android 16 QPR1 is a big deal for #GrapheneOS.

All of the major desktop mode features will be available in this version. A lot of it is available as developer options for an early preview on GrapheneOS but will be fully production ready by the time we have A16 QPR1.

This will allow a Desktop experience for users. Modern Pixels can then dock their device and use a mouse and keyboard to navigate the UI.

A functional desktop mode is huge, but it is a stepping stone towards a far greater feature target for us: A Desktop OS VM manager.

One OS feature (the Linux terminal app) already provides a Linux command line using a Debian virtual machine. Ideally, we would want to move away from a non-hardened desktop distribution like Debian, which the upstream uses, and have something an ARM build of secureblue, securecore or even a gold target for Windows 11 ARM for superior app compatibility.

Here you can see desktop operating system apps within a freeform window over the standard GrapheneOS applications. There are many unique setups and software choices if we can further develop this:

Gaining desktop functionality and including being able to run GUI Windows and desktop Linux applications via hardware accelerated virtualization will then lead to further innovative features, including:

1) Running a specific app or an entire profile via GrapheneOS virtual machines seamlessly integrated into the OS.

2) Running Windows or desktop Linux applications with desktop mode + USB-C DisplayPort alt mode on the Pixel 8 and later.

3) Create an amnesiac virtualized environment nested within the OS user that could be plausibly deniable.

There are also a few massive targets that would take a lot of work and wouldn't be seen yet, but worth considering. For example, Android provides Chromium's layer-1 sandbox as an OS feature available to be used by any app via isolatedProcess. It would be fantastic to move this to virtualization using microdroid. It'd be a large project, but have a very high impact for browsers, like per-site virtual machine instances. That would provide security above Tor Browser and comparable to Microsoft Edge's deprecated Application Guard feature that ran Edge in an isolated virtual machine but at a more seamless and useable scale.

Since isolatedProcess is an OS API, it'd benefit all Chromium-based browsers and other apps using it rather than being specific to Vanadium. That'd be a difficult project but we can consider it as a future large feature on the same scale as our sandboxed Google Play feature. This would make many apps get a large security boost.

I would love to be able to run Tails.net . Especially with the Persistent Storage feature

I apologize. I did as you said and checked again. This time I had success! I think maybe I'd had one too many beers at the meetup when I last tried 😏 Also I was going to request the ability to transact directly with other liquid wallets like Aqua and Blockstream Green, but I noticed that through some magic I don't understand it was recognizing that when interacting with Aqua, very cool! Again, sorry for my mistaken criticism, but glad I learned it was indeed functional without Google services on my GrapheneOS pixel. I am happy now to have it there along with Aqua and Blockstream Green. Thank you very much for the wallet and all you do at Breeze 🙏
