ARSA or American Rettungshunde Sport Association (American Rescue Dog Sport Association), is a national organization dedicated to the search and rescue sport, offers an internationally recognized training program built around obedience, agility, and scent work. The program is intended to help those who are active in the sport improve their skills through training and testing. The skills required by the sport may also be useful to operational SAR teams (and many ARSA judges also are part of larger operational SAR teams).
Commonly called RH (Rettüngshunde, or rescue dog), the sport has similarities to and is an ideal supplement to IGP (Schutzhund), obedience, agility, AKC tracking, and other activities.
In December thru a competition sponored by my local ARSA chapter, DiNozzo officially was titled at the IRO - FCI IPO-R RH-FL V level. What does that mean? Well, let me break that down..
FCI IPO-R RH-FL V refers to a dog sport titling system and related competition activities:
- FCI stands for Fédération Cynologique Internationale, the international governing body for dog sports and shows.
- IRO stands for International Research Organization, another international dog sport organization.
- IPO-R is a specific dog sport trial or competition, involving different phases or exercises.
- FL V refers to the "Tracking" (Fährte) and "Obedience" (Leinenführigkeit) components of the IPO-R trial.
In other words, the FCI/IRO IPO-R FL-V (V roughly translates to Validation or Verification) is a dog sport title or competition that tests a dog's tracking (FL or Area) and obedience abilities, governed by the major international dog sport federations. The specific details of the exercises and titling requirements would depend on the rules of the particular organization.
I'm amazingly proud of this pup and my wife for the dedication and hard work. It paid off. Next for him will be FL-A (Test level A) and then FL B (Test Level B) which are more stringent and rigorous standards for determining the DiNozzo's ability in obedience and search over larger areas. From there.. the sky is the limit.. We've also been gauging interest in studing him out because - after all - he's a titled 100% purebred Dutch Shepherd with title and everything.. ;)
But right now.. he's getting some well-deserved rest and recreation time and lots of cuddles from his family...

It blows my mind that people rely on it as heavily as they do. LLMs can hallucinate.. a lot. I had an LLM consistently write non-threadsafe code even when the instructions I gave were prescriptive (use ProcessPoolExecutor instead of ThreadPoolExecutor). LLMs are a tool but not a panacea.. Use them as a starting point.. make sure you know your computer science fundamentals.. nothing will take the place of that.
