I'm looking for advice from all my chicken keeping people who live in areas with inclement weather.

What do you do for a dust bath?

I didn't want to have to replace it ever other day when it rains.

The two rough solutions I have in mind are plastic bins with a hole cut out or a litter box.

Any better ideas?

My advice is to not insulate unless you're housing delicate breeds. Most chicken breeds have no problem in those temperatures as long as they are dry and protected from drafts.

Insulation is pretty much meaningless if you have ventilation and if you do not have ventilation there will be humidity which will increase likelihood of frostbite.

The key to happy healthy chickens in the winter is ventilation but no drafts directly on the roost.

First time raising broilers. They were pasture raised and harvested at just a bit over 8 weeks. I only raised 8 as a trial and total weight is 38lbs with average being 4.6lb.

I butchered them myself. It sure was a learning process. Scalding temperature is CRITICAL! My first thermometer was incorrect and the temperature wasn't hot enough. The difference is an hour in plucking time per chicken!

I just started butchering my first batch of broilers and keeping organs for this and maybe try then myself. I've noticed a massive difference in my old dog's body composition while we experimented with whole foods and a premium dog food. We went back to bagged food because of cost and she's looking overweight and unhealthy again. I can only imagine what's in there.

No, 14 failed PIN attempts resume in a physically bricked device. There is no way to reset without the current pin. So it is not possible to bail out early and just start over with a new pin and import a wallet. If the user loses/forgets or just fat fingers the pin (and can't guess it) it's a $200 piece of electronic waste.

I believe the justification for this is to dissuade theft and sale of used devices.

I get the intent but I'm not sure it's worth it. I really want to choose OSS but I think I have to consider a different hardware wallet.

Well I've fat fingered my pin during setup so now my brand new ColdCard Q is pretty much useless. Didn't even get to actually use it.

I understand the intent of the security feature of bricking after 14 failed PIN attempts but because of that I feel just one confirmation is not enough.

I think ColdCard needs a third confirm, particularly because I find the keyboard on the ColdCard Q to be highly prone to keypress error even having small to medium sized hands.

A prompt to view pin would be nice too. I'm quite sure I remember my intended pin but I think I had an erroneous keypress.

I'm not trying to throw shade I'm just disappointed with my experience and that's mostly my fault.
