I feel like this fact isn't talked about enough. The supreme court gave the president immunity from prosecution in the most be decision ever. That alone should've been enough to kill his political career in the land of the free but his supporters are way too far up his ass to see the truth.

Exactly right! nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z nostr:npub1l5sga6xg72phsz5422ykujprejwud075ggrr3z2hwyrfgr7eylqstegx9z, this is why I was waffling on using Kind: 1 or not. Since everything inside is unsigned (and encrypted until it's decrypted by group participants) it does function very much like a private feed of it's own.

Oh so relays are going to need to be modified to not check for a signature then? How will a relay know that a given event is meant to be unsigned? I think having a dedicated kind would simplify this.

I've been slowly selling my bitcoin for a down payment on a house. I plan on buying more once I own a home but I see nothing wrong with spending your money. What's the point of saving if you never spend it.

Negentropy should NEVER be mandatory. There is a whole usecase for relays as private communities where users do not want their notes to go anywhere but that specific relay and this NIP would just kill that use case. Its also very complex and makes building a simple relay more difficult. Optional NIP is the best option IMO.

#Amethyst has anyone ever reported this bug? My media player in the top widget menu will show amethyst "playing" a post? Its really annoying if the last thing I did on my phone before getting into my car was scrolling amethyst. Then when my phone connects to my car it won't auto play music as I expect but will auto play an amethyst post. Which makes no sense, I'm not sure why a normal text post is being treated as media to play in the background. Like a given post won't even have a GIF, audio or video linked to it.

My grand father passed away 8 years ago as of August. Not a day goes by when I don't think of him. He was the kind of man most of us work hard to be, but he just was. He was wise, caring and he didn't give a damn what people thought about him. Unapologetically himself. And he loved to make people laugh. He was the life of the party. Family get togethers just aren't the same without him. He taught me so much. He was also wicked smart. For a guy who didn't even finish high school and worked his whole life underground, he could fix or build you anything. Thanks for sharing. I love hearing about special people like that as it makes me think of him.

I may be missing something but I'm pretty sure its not competing with nostr. Essentially, using mainline DHT (which torrent clients use) and a public/private keypair, it's a decentralized way to create name records. So for example you can sign a message with your keypair saying I want to claim www dot abh3po dot com, direct it to x.y.z.w IP address and publish it to the DHT using the PKARR protocol and now that domain will resolve to your server. No need for ICANN. Though one of the devs told me it won't necessarily work in the browser out of the box this way.

Regardless, its not just for domain names, any names can claimed in this way. You could have a record resolve to an npub or a bitcoin wallet address. You would need whatever nostr client or bitcoin wallet to use PKARR to resolve these names but if it did, then you have permissionless and decentralized DNS.

Tbh, I have lost a lot of respect for bitcoiners who are voting for Trump solely because he promised to free Ross and ignore his shitcoin schemes, and undemocratic actions during his term. Your heads are so far up his ass, you can't see the man for what he is: a power hungry politician who sold himself out to gain power. This isn't me saying that Kamala Harris is perfect and has no flaws. She's a cookie cutter politician. But what is wrong with that? What is wrong with business as usual? Trump isn't going to make things better and neither will she but at least she's predictable. Its Trumps unpredictability that is scary and when you hold as much power as the US President, that certainly isn't a desirable quality.

Idea: a new method of AUTH on a relay based on Web of Trust/degree of separation. You configure your relay to allow a max degree of separation (say 3). Then when a new user connects to your relay and gets the AUTH message, not only must they sign an AUTH message but so does one other user already on the relay white list (to essentially vouch on your behalf). The person vouching for you must have had their auth message signed by the relay operator/admin or by someone that the admin vouched for directly or someone they vouched for directly up to the degree of separation limit.

You can even enforce moderation this way where if someone let's in a bad actor, both the bad actor and the person that vouched for them gets kicked out. If someone you vouched for is kicked out, you get a strike up to a maximum of three (or some other configurable value) #nostr #dev

What in the Alabama is this?

Has force ever not been equal to mass*acceleration? No but that doesn't mean Newton was right. Its a good model of physics in many applications but it has its shortcomings. Einsteins theory of relativity is far closer to the answer than Newton's model.

Are politicians known to be corrupt? Absolutely. Will they continue to be corrupt? Most likely but you don't approach new situations with your biases and then find evidence that matches your world view. You look at every situation indepedentely, look at all the facts, then draw your conclusions. Einstein's own biases cloud his judgement when evaluating quantum mechanics he said "God doesn't roll dice". Yet he was wrong, quantum mechanics is the best model of the atom we have currently.

I'm not saying all conspiracy theories are wrong nor should they be dismissed. But a huge problem I have with this kind of thinking is its mostly anti-scientific. Instead of looking at the facts and drawing conclusions, typically people with this kind of thinking have drawn conclusions and then find evidence to support it. Example: the whole COVID-19 plandemic theory that governments around the world conspired to make a pandemic and then use the opportunity to implement authoritarian rule over people. Typically, these people already held the view that governments are waiting for the opportunity to tighten their grips, power hungry monsters, etc. Then when the pandemic happened and governments *did* employ authoritarian measures, it fit their narrative and so it must be true. But now in 2024, we can see they were wrong. The world didn't slip into full on authoritarianism as they said they would with vaccine passports still in effect, police check points, bread lines, etc. Should governments have this kind of power? Were the authoritarian measures justified or worth it? Those are different questions. But the point stands, I find in Bitcoin/Nostr communities this kind of thinking pervasive. If holding this opinion makes me an NPC then so be it.

Metal water bottles >>>> I previously owned a glass bottle, took it everywhere including to the bouldering gym. I put it down on the ground, someone accidentally knocked it over and it shattered. Never again.
