Yeah we really just need git object discovery via Nostr/Blossom. That's fairly simple, since all git objects are uniquely identified by a hash. So, on some level, all we need is a table of git object IDs and where to find them.

Why replace git servers? Git servers are tried-and-true to the point that trying to re-implement them on a new tech stack would almost certainly be a step back. Any computer that has git installed can act as a simple git server; we should capitalize on that.

nip94 gives us the ability to build giphy on nostr itself. Anyone can publish a nip94 note of a gif, and clients can optionally publish these notes when you share a gif, so you can find gifs your friends use. gif services can also publish these notes.

nip94 is file metadata. It’s a perfect usecase for this.

The contents of file metadata is a description of the gif, search engines can use this to do gif searches.

You can also add tags to the metadata note, so you can search on the image/gif mime type and the “lol” tag to quickly find lol gifs.

We have everything we need to start building this.

Yeah, we are one step further on some of what you described and one step back on others. This is becoming inefficient.

Google Maps is the one Google service I cant seem to escape on my degoogling journey. Yes, apps built on openstreetmaps can be a good alternative but the reviews data for things like restaurants and the fact that people will only share Google maps links these days when sharing locations makes it hard to escape.
