The Miami conference is less about learning, and is more about the tribalism of Bitcoin. A smaller conference with more thoughtful conversations, and with less high-fiving and back-slapping makes for a better conference.

There are far more people who want to say things than there are people who have things to say.

Finance capitalism does not promote growth or rising living standards. It is the doctrine of deindustrialization, and of the cannibalism of production.

Excellent excellent conversation

Most US companies are zombie companies—their production is financial growth rather than material and service creation. The financial industry serves the myth by enabling an ever increasing debt load, by controlling bankruptcy laws, by redefining GDP to include financial services, by labeling stock buybacks and new debt as investment, and by socializing their risks and failures.

ā€œThe core of anarchist tradition is that power is always illegitimate, until it proves itself to be legitimate…

…It is the responsibility of those who exercise power to show that somehow it’s legitimate. It’s not the responsibility of anyone else to show that it’s illegitimate. It’s illegitimate by assumption…

I know you’re sharing something good. I sure wish I could read it 😢

The wife and I are going to Playa del Carmen next week. Any Bitcoining down there?

I’m planning to take my travel phone, so no Nostr…

Admission:

I cut health insurance 3 years ago. I am now self-insured. I know that the cost of insured healthcare is 30% more than the actual cost. The Insurance industry has many actuaries that calculated that (insuring me + profits = $380ish/mo). So if I save 30% less than 380, that should cover me.

Insurance is the second most successful marketing ploy after diamond rings. Everybody ā€œknowsā€ that you have to have health insurance. And yet, everybody can do simple math.

The real cost of healthcare is X.

The cost of privatized healthcare is 1.3X. That’s 30% profit you have to pay the insurance industry for the privilege of having healthy children.

A man stole a Bitcoin atm to break open and take the cash.

100 years ago, men took a secret train to Jekyll Island to create a new money to enslave the people to finance.

Today, people are driving past Jekyll Island to advocate for a new money to liberate mankind.

Those driving down 95 to Miami, wave at Jekyll Island. That’s why you’re here.

I have definitely seen it šŸ‘šŸ˜Ž And every Chomsky talk I can. He’s a treasure, and it blows my mind the amount of information that he can recall and the way in which he can consolidate complex ideas and present them to an unknowing public.

Homelessness, education, social services, and access to healthcare aren’t even on the list
