Increasing the blocksize should be out of the question, at least until we have exhausted all other possibilities.

We typically only discover new scaling opportunities out of necessity and constraint.

Any increase in blocksize necessarily has an impact on decentralisation (by increasing the cost of running a node).

We cannot gloss over this essential point, by framing a blocksize increase as low hanging fruit, in terms of scaling Bitcoin.

Optional custodial solutions on layer 3 are better than mandatory custodial solutions on layer 1.

Often better to learn to let it go, rather than vocalise your pain and suffering in to the world, where it gets passed on to others.

After a brief bit of research, it sounds like chaumian ecash is a means to scale Lightning (at least in the context of protocols like Cashu).

Users exchange pieces of data that represent ecash, which in turn represents Bitcoin.

Custodial mints are responsible for verifying transactions and holding the underlying Bitcoin, that backs all of the ecash traded by users of that mint.

Users have a relationship with one or more mints, at zero cost (unlike the costs associated with opening lightning channels), and can interact with users of other mints, by virtue of the fact that mints are interconnected, via the Lightning Network.

I am keen to learn more about the nature of protocols like Cashu, specifically in terms of the benefits and safeguards they can offer users who cannot afford to operate directly on Lightning, due to high on chain fees, technical barriers, or otherwise.

I'm also interested in speculation around who will end up running the mints...

Great interview by nostr:npub1w69ya7xs697hk3hky3gllryz8rwverfa0ylz89chf9qnhfcskc2s64zltw on WhatBitcoinDid podcast.

Focused, well spoken, and with fresh insights on how Bitcoins use case can better be communicated to those who are yet to have their light-bulb moment.

He's not quite there yet with respect to #Nostr , however it directly competes with his company, in terms of solving the identity coordination problem, on top of Bitcoin, which may have something to do with it.

Still a good show and worth a listen.

or perhaps he refused to do something potentially objectionable

also consider the optionality of hiding / revealing your floor figure to your audience.

keeping it hidden invites the possibility of a 'silent auction' type scenario.

The Alby extension shows messages associated with incoming Zaps. When we make an outgoing Zap, using a client like Primal, Alby doesn't show the message that was included, as part of the outgoing Zap.

Is it possible this could be included? Or is there a technical reason why it hasn't already been implemented ?
