And I can appreciate that - but within the context of respecting everyone’s right to not be the object of monetization. I’m of the opinion that I will gladly pay for services I use - I want notheing for free so long as my privacy and sovereignty are respected. This is the exact reason I deleted Facebook a dozen years ago and continue to stand fast on that principle.

I have little regard for normies outside of my local social group, which is, perhaps a GenX trait, or a survival instinct - both to me are acceptable tradeoffs to being “out there” given the societal climate we are in. I’m honestly surprised at the utter lack of interest in truth by other younger generations and I feel the gravity of that pulling at me every day to succumb to propaganda.

Hosting an e-mail server is complicated for many reasons - most home internet providers block smtp outbound forcing you to use a relay service like gmail. Also without reverse DNS zone control, most spam filters are gonna block you as a first line of defense. If you host with a provider, you can get this done if they have unblocked IPs for you, but most don’t. At some point those IPs were used by spammers, and are still RBL’d. You’ll learn a lot trying, but in the end, you’ll go back to a regular provider and find other ways to get the privacy you want when you need it (GPG).
