Maybe the reason people are buying bitcoin isn't because of the positive policies president elect Trump will put in place, but rather people preparong to operate in the face of the poor policies he's expected to put in place. ๐ซค
These "carnivores" that have pumpkin pie crack me up. They literally don't know the definition of carnivore.
If you want to go with an Atkins diet, that's cool. Own it. Eat your veggie carbs. Minimum of 20g/day. That's great. But call it what it is instead of trying to label it as "carnivore". You just look like a fool and insult people who are actually doing the carnivore diet.
All these low carb diets make perfect sense if you are a diabetic or about to become one if you don't start exercising and cut out the carbs. Nothing to be ashamed of.
I reached out to a podcast today about having the #signet project sponsor them.
Trying to figure out how all this works, and if it works for community projects as well as for-profit companies selling closed source hardware.
They have a huge advantage in that they have a non-zero budget for advertising, so I might need to find another path.
Our family has one Heltec v3 radio per person which pairs with each person's smartphone. The phones don't need to have a SIM card nor cell service.
If you get the one DeFrisselle pointed to, you can skip the smartphone all together.
As for the question of whether it works well for family communication, it depends on how far your family goes, how many other people in your area are using Meshtastic, and whether there are a bunch of hills, valleys and buildings in the way. In my experience, putting a radio in a second story window gets you about 1km in real world conditions. Putting it on the peak of the roof does substancially better.
If you have line of sight (or close to it) the signal can easily go a few miles. If others are using Meshtastic nearby, they'll retransmit your messages so they go further.
I'm working on putting together a solar powered node that I can strap to a radio tower which overlooks our entire town. That should provide coverage for nearly everyone with a single hop. To be clear, that solar node will be one additional radio for that node on top of the one-per-person.
Good call. We blanched our #homegrown green beans last year, flash froze them and put them in pint jars in the chest freezer. We actually managed to grow a year's consumption too! I imagine they'll last longer if vacuum sealed before putting them in the deep freeze.
We are aiming to get more #Bitcoin circular economies/projects around the world to use #Nostr. Please support the circular economies which are already on Nostr, leading the way. Please follow them! Here they are:

More to come, as other #BTC circular economies get onto Nostr.
If selling encrypted hardware password managers for #bitcoin qualifies me, then put me on the list. ๐บ๐ฒ
I'd buy components directly in #btc if I could. I'm frequetly tempted to run an electronics supply store...
I'm glad I stumbled across your post. This is the first I've heard of HOI.
I am just a gardener in East-Central Illinois, with a speck of land but have my calendar marked. If I can afford to go, I will be there.
I followed you so it's more lilely that I'll see your future posts.
The free market doesn't tell you when a company will go out of business. It doesn't tell you when they will discontinue a product line, silently reduce quality of existing products, stop supporting old products...
It doesn't solve any of these things. It theoretically provides a wider array of options, which is good, but it is orthogonal to transparency on the quality of their products.
What are good uses for a food vacuum sealer?
What should I vacuum seal instead of dehydrating and putting it in a canning jar?

Some mates and I were thinking about why people don't prefer durable goods to the cheap crap.
Can they not afford it?
Are they short sighted?
Do they not care about waste?
Is it cheaper to buy cheap ones repeatedly?
We concluded that it's mainly a lack of transparency in the market.
Will this more expensive one last longer?
Will the company be around in 5 years?
If so, will they still offer replacement parts?
If they sold a great make & model years ago and you want to buy another one, have they silently changed it to cut costs?
It's a crap shoot. Someone should solve this problem.
Whenever you're ready
Just generated a fresh invoice and tried sending: payment timed out.
After the timeout error, I always get a "payment is in transition" error. Is this a bug? If a transaction times out, shouldn't I be able to re-transmit the same transaction in hopes that it will get through?
I can pay with on-chain funds, but I'd like to use this opportunity to make my lightning software work better and provide feedback so maybe the error messages can be improved, if nothing else.
The fact that you have to study nostr and understand all these different types of relays, and NIPS and learn how set all these things up is a much bigger barrier than most people on here are willing to admit. Huge survivor's bias.
When there's an app/website where new users can just open it up and have it walk them through the absolute minimum setup and help with the optional things, when we'll see substancial adoption. No more having to ask for help or get a bunch of unsolicited advice.

There are people talking about it. Personally, I am more interested in communications systems that don't rely on the internet, but I still strongly feel that #reticulum has its place.
I expect that if I can get 802.11 mesh networks covering my area I'll dive more into reticulum. If WiFi Halo ever becomes a thing in practice, it'll become much more practical.
