Why am I sad to see it move?
I'm very sad to see the #meshtastic forum move from a #SelfHosted #Discourse server to #Microsoft #Github.
I am glad to hear that they took input from the community though. Hopefully the majority of the people actively **wants** to move there and many more will consent to moving there.
That forum is a gold mine for information.
I think it is a mistake to upload your private keys to other people (e.g. Google, Apple) in the way passkeys do.
I understand the convience factors, and the concern about backups, and I stand by my statement
FIDO2 got that right. Passkeys got that wrong.

Why don't you make open source voting machines?
I used YNAB until they forced everyone to store all their financial records on the company servers. They were good back when you could just save things to your computer. Our household held onto them until the bitter end.

Open source, available in F-Droid, runs on Android, can sync to your own server via webdav if you give the developer a few bucks a year.
Of course, you could probably modify it and compile if yourself to unlock all the features, but IMO the author is providing value and deserves vslue in return.

I have the Artisans coop, where I give people a place to sell handmade goods without Etsy, Ebay, etc.
Scoping out deals on groceries so a meal plan can be made, getting groceries, cooking, random house projects like building rain barrel stands, trellises for the garden, raised garden beds, making washing soda, dehydrating food, fixing stuff, etc.
The local Makerspace, books 2 prisioners, activism such as opposing more [local] government spending on vatious things, but mainly extra police & mass surveillance (and I mean that very literally).
Meshtastic at random times.
Several projects not done under this nym and that I'll never talk about here.
Wednesdays are my "do all the things that got punted", which happens if I'm not feeling up to something or if something urgent comes up.
And then Sundays are my "me day" where I do whatever I want, which may be nothing at all, but in any event it's fun/relaxing.
The problem is that I love all of these things. But they're a lot more fun when I feel like I'm making progress than when I feel like I'm spending a bunch of time on something and then have little or nothing to show for it after a few hours of work. So I think some things are going to have to be put on the shelf.
I guess the silver lining here is that none of my projects are very popular, so nobody is goinb to be disappointed if I put them on pause for a gew months.
I've been struggling to focus on Signet on Saturdays ever since I started #Signet #Saturday. Making real progress on this project requires complete focus, and that's hard enough for any day, but especially hard on the weekends.
Plus Saturday night is the day I make myself available to hang out with friends who don't live near me anymore. I started that in mid-2019 and it's damn near the only way I stay in touch with people. Since I'm not ready to give that up, it means if I get started on Signet and get deep into the weeds, I'll be interrupted. And I've tried working on Signet while chatting with friends and I end up losing focus and progress is slow to non-existant.
As I'm writing all this out, it seems like I'm coming to the conclusion that Signet Saturdays will have to stop, despite the alluring alliteration.
I'm not sure if I'll try to dedicate another day of the week to it or not. I think it's more likely that I'll work on it non-stop for several days in a row, abandoning all other responsibilities. This seems to be the way I work best, for better or worse.
