#Bitcoin only, financially illiterate psychopath. NIP-65 advocate, grower of plants, roaster of coffee, noser of whisky, tinkerer of technology.

There can be many reasons why someone would prefer anonymity, but regarding Peterson's take on social media, I think platforms can work without having to segregate the fully ID'd accounts from the nyms while still being productive. There are other ways to disincentivize bad behavior.

Only users that have paid can have their notes written to that relay, which should reduce spam.

I.e. You could just connect to a paid relay (or several) and enjoy a relatively spam-free experience, but you would be in a silo and wouldn't really see people that are on the public relays.

Gossip can do this. I feel like a Gossip shill on here lately πŸ˜‚

The Gossip desktop client has a different approach. It will connect to relays for you based on which relays the people you're following post to, in order to grab just their notes.

This way the user only needs to configure which relays they want their own posts to be written to, which doesn't need to be that numerous.

Global feeds might be impacted by this, but I'm not sure people are using it as much with the recent influx of new users. It's too busy.

Welcome to Nostr! 😎

I’m running eight with no issues. Low latency and all β€œgreen” connections is probably a bigger factor.
