Was just drinking tea and thinking, English really is the Schelling point of language. Not the most spoken natively, not the easiest, not even the most elegant. But when people don't know what others speak, they default to it. A kind of linguistic gravity.
Even with AI translation catching up, there's still something about speaking the same words, at the same time, without a machine in the middle. Until that changes, English stays the meeting place.
