To wake you up, if it's possible (I suspect it's not, but there is always hope)

There's a lot of good to the "leave me alone" part of the libertarian mindset, but there's also a lot of "not my problem"-ism at the same time.

"So she wants to be an internet whore instead of a respectable woman on track for a happy life? Meh, not my problem, everyone can do whatever they want"

Looks like we're going with the second one then

make up your mind

Try mine (@victor@crucible.world) - I think it blacklisted me for making it say the forbidden slur, and now it will never respond to any message that has my fedi @ in it (even if I'm just mentioned in the message and not talking to it directly)

Miss me with that nonstop zap talk

Well...I imagine we're getting pretty close to the kind of thing Revelation talks about with this thing. With human voice synthesis, face synthesis, and whatever is powering this thing's "brain" (which will only improve from here), we're pretty close to having created a false god with the appearance of knowing everything.

I wonder what they're doing with it behind the scenes for spying on people and analyzing data streams. I have a feeling we're only seeing the very tip of the iceberg.

I'm going to become dependent on this thing if I'm not careful.

ChatGPT is doing things in 30 seconds that would take me 5-10 minutes to do.

This is terrifying...It doesn't get everything completely right, so I still have to know generally what I'm doing and how to troubleshoot, but I'm thinking this would be better than some of the sysadmins I work with...

Did I say halfway? I just pasted some code to it that wasn't working, and it told my why it wasn't working and pointed me to the right way to do it instead.

Ugh. I should just get a head start and learn to farm.

Well, that's it. I'm halfway obsolete. I just asked ChatGPT for some help writing in-depth Kubernetes stuff, and it answered better than any article or tutorial could have.

I'd rather have boring than today's version of "interesting"

I don't think he'd waste his time on the internet, just like he didn't (as far as we know) waste his time writing letters to people.

I think he would be out healing people and casting out the demons that cause all of this mess in the first place.

But I'm not him, so I don't really know. I'm under the impression that when he returns, he won't be as nice and accommodating to the rulers of the world as he was last time.

Very true. The value fedi provides to me is being informed when things start to fall apart (since the people there are good at ferreting out real news sources and putting less emphasis on fake/gay news), so I can plan and act accordingly.

However, lately everyone has been so crazy that level heads have had a harder time prevailing. Just a few weeks ago everyone thought the Ohio train wreck was basically going to turn the entire US into a toxic biohazard zone. It was bad and will have some long-term effects, but blowing things out of proportion doesn't do anyone any favors. We have the MSM for that (even if they don't cover the same topics).

Is it now turning into an actual, literal circlejerk?

I mean, take today as an example...We all (myself included) obsessed over the banking crash, which is admittedly an ongoing thing and a big deal. But the moment trading was frozen, people went right back to talking about and how he/she is so bad and stupid and a tranny pedophile...All of which may or may not be true, but is it really worth spending precious brainpower on that?

We ought to be filling our minds, not with gossip, not with vague positivity and empty hope in the currency du jour, but with Jesus, history, survival know-how, pride in our heritage and in God's love for us, and all the great things our ancestors staked their entire purpose and meaning in life on.

But instead we drag each other down. Just a big bucket of crabs.
