So I've discovered that the reason why an infuser is insufficient is because it allows some grounds to escape and settle at the bottom of your mug, which is kinda meh once you're at the end.

I'm coming around to understanding the edge cases that the french press solves. Because even though I can brew in a separate pitcher and pour through a strainer into a mug, the press does this all in one. The trade-off being that it's more effort to clean.

It's like bitcoin's side chick. The main chick can get expensive sometimes, so sometimes you peg into the side chick for a cheaper time. But because you can always peg back to the main chain, this analogy falls apart since your main chick will dump you harder than CZ dumped the FTT token.

Another thing is that things will always go wrong in the world of self custody, and even more so when you're self custodying higher layers. Those edge cases take technical know-how to deal with that a lot of people don't have, and it'll take a long time for consumer products to deal with those in a secure way automatically. People live digital lives with none of the responsibility because cloud providers and OSs do everything for you. It'll be a long time before public consciousness can make the shift to self-reliance again.
