So let’s see … is there an #indesign community here at all? #adobe #adobeindesign
Yeah I know there’s open source alts. I’ve just spent 25 years with Adobe for the print design world and I know so much of it backwards and forwards.
It’s the collaboration stuff they’ve added that I’m poking at and it’s seeming kinda “really? this UX is … eeee” for a pro tool.
It’s PayPal owned so they have a history of rolling quick and easy.
I think almost everyone agrees that if they hadn’t done away with the physical function and escape keys it wouldn’t have been a problem.
My prediction is that they take it away, bring back the keys and then rework where it goes on the device in say… maybe 2-3 years?
I’m not sure that those two doing promoting should be the measuring tape for this. They have reasons to promote the things that they do and ignoring anything else that exists.
(But yes, it needs to be made easier and clearer for the average person to use Nostr … people who aren’t already deep into bitcoin.)
All good. I still haven’t found it in Damus. Feeling like I’m blind over here. Or I’ll see it in another 24 hours and think it was obvious so how did I not see it. 😂
😂 honestly it scares a lot of people if/when they really realize this.
I generally post everything publicly because I have known this for decades no matter platform.
Only in the last three year have I done more “for friends” posts ONLY so the spammers can’t try and hijack / post in the comments their junk.
So less about it not being public (because I expect it could be leaked) and more about not wasting time on notifications for trash comments. (Which is something Nostr may have to think about eventually.)
That 1996 Angelfire website I coded is still partially backed up with the Internet Archive (yay waybackmachine!) I haven't linked it to myself on the modern web yet so not going to embarrass myself just now. It's pretty high-school (though I was already smart enough back then to have a PO Box.) 🤣
Interesting new realization because I logged back into Primal on desktop - seems like DMs(?) exist but not in Damus.
Someone sent me a message I’m seeing in Primal via Browser but not in Damus.
Sometimes you just don't want something easy access / top of account everywhere BUT you do need to understand that deleted online doesn't mean it's completely gone.
Screen shots can exist even if an entire system doesn't retain a copy anyway. I'm honestly not sure why people haven't learned this from the twitter screen capture culture. But Facebook etc. downplaying / not talking about it... probably the reason.
I am actually looking in Damus and I see bookmarks for posts it’s not obvious how to bookmark a whole hashtag.
Excellent presentation. About 30% into the video BUT this ALREADY covers a lot of the things that I think Nostr has to work on if it wants to have a broader appeal.
Soooo has anyone built lists or bookmarkable hashtags while I was gone? Or advanced searching somewhere? #nostr #damus #primal
nostr:npub1u8lnhlw5usp3t9vmpz60ejpyt649z33hu82wc2hpv6m5xdqmuxhs46turz have any big brands called yet?
If your target market is certain more corporate brands, that’s a whole other thing. Would depend a bit on what sector you’re going after.
I was thinking based on the page they were trying to get more individuals, creators and maybe some app devs that wanted to a decentralized option.
I had not forgotten about this. When I started digging in I realized I didn’t really need to know about what happened with Apple & Damus. I just assumed that zapple was some sort of workaround because of the name.
There is not a create a page button at the bottom of the page in the screen shot currently so I couldn’t go poking at it to see if I understood it better via that route though.
So I started feeding the text into ChatGPT to see if I could quickly get a more simplified and less technical version. This may not be exactly accurate (since I couldn’t go in and attempt to experience the product but it’s a little less … crypto a little more normal:
ZapplePay has just introduced something called AutoZaps, which works kind of like a decentralized version of Patreon. It lets people create their own pages where others can set up recurring payments to support them.
AutoZaps uses a technology called NWC (Nostr Wallet Connect) to talk to wallets like Mutiny and Alby. These wallets have features that make it easy to approve payments automatically when connected to a specific NWC code.
They've also used NWC technology to build Mutiny+, which is a way to handle payments with Bitcoin in a more user-friendly manner.
If you're curious about AutoZaps, you can check them out here: [AutoZaps](https://www.zapplepay.com/autozap/)
And if you're interested in using NWC for your own payment systems, ZapplePay is open to chat.
I think I need to spend a minute here again to see where things have evolved and where some thing shook out on the Apple /Damus stuff (I got caught up in IRL events for a few months here.)
Let me wrap my head around the changes, that statement and then do a sort of translation.
Yeah but Nostr doesn’t have the business manager where if someone’s personal account gets hacked and they are an admin of a business manager or page then the hackers have access to that to remove all other admins and hack everything that one personal account had access to.
There’s a more one to one with the hack if it happens here.
Basically the Facebook business manager itself entices businesses to have less security because they tend to assign a bunch of people as admins no matter their tech skill.
Now I do still question how hackable Nostr might be but it’s also not going to be two weeks of being strung along by “support.”
And I wouldn’t feel quite so bad about exploring options to try and hack the hacked account here IF it was that important to me. I feel like that would come back to bite me if I try to hack the hacked account with Facebook.
This actually happened because an admin hated Facebook enough that they didn’t have 2fa enabled and I didn’t think I needed to have that talk with the person because they are generally security minded. But that also means accounts without 2fa are more hackable on Facebook than they should be because he wasn’t tricked into giving someone access.
I think I may also be most upset about wasting so much time AND the way “support” was handled. I was repeatedly told to use live chat and sent a support link where there was no live chat. It has come across as valuing the privacy of the hackers more than the digital asset of the business.
🤷♀️
Meta is capable of giving the page back but they are unwilling.
Posting this here is preaching to the choir. But businesses don’t always get to choose what’s popular (especially amongst their target market) so… just an FYI:
Facebook / Meta willingly allows hackers to retain control of business pages despite proof of business ownership citing policies that make recovery “out of scope.”

Awesome. Something did something weird to what I typed. But at least part of that is the public key for one of the people I was trying to recommend. Have not seen that before.
I also tried to say go through who I have followed as there are probably a couple there of interest (beyond the bluesky folks I added today.)

Yup - I can also tell you that those form Bluesky rarely will go off to watch a linked video as it’s not a video centric community. But resource links for onboarding is a good fit. What apps or interfaces are even options etc.
If you can answer nostr:npub1v62adelwqr3tvlqlqtl8jqagdq07pws5p9wg8qqghfhptc6844nq3wqu03 ‘a questions too - I don’t have good responses for those and figure I should connect you two. (Col, I would recommend following nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 )
