Apparently I was typing this (while trying to pay attention to an IRL event) and didn’t hit post until after you did exactly what I was tagging you for nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 - sorry bout that. 😂

I’m gonna be frank y’all … if you’re new to a platform and all you see when you join is a bunch of posts with people saying a term you don’t understand, it doesn’t look like the platforms has the conversations you were expecting.

nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 I’m tagging you because you might be able to convey that there’s a need for some content posts or at least other onboarding materials and links WITH the zapathon comments.

Most comprehensive list of Nostr apps such as snort.social and Damus etc that I've seen (I'm all for options):

Rye #whiskey Manhattan. A nice cocktail to end the evening. 🥃

Yeah I saw that as well but … yeah no I haven’t checked into what the deal is.

I KNOW I didn’t connect it to another wallet or anything financial. I knew it was too new in December so I just wouldn’t have even if I could.

I think I have to backtrack through some notes.

I have been distracted by exploring Threads when it came out (social media manager reasons & curiosity. Nostr & Bluesky are absolutely not a match for certain things yet. Really same goes for Threads too though.)

Snort.social and Damus mostly. Have tinkered and bookmarked a few others (clearly I’m not getting notifications at the moment. 😂)

Or rather ... in some places it looks like I have something connected to nostr to zap but I'm unclear on what it's connected to since I didn't set up any wallets and I don't know what it's connected to? Eh - haven't had time to explore.

I don’t have anything connected to do so, so I disconnected from the Damus relay for the moment.

That does put the burden on other relays but knowing that the Damus app made it a popular relay, diversifying should also help not leave one person with a huge bill.

Testing a relay removal from an app.

In case anyone is curious, yesterday Twitter cut off the ability to see posts without an account and appears to have implemented a max number of posts that can be viewed per acct per day. #twitter #nostr (came over here to see how this platform was handling.)

Note that Amazon doesn’t let you buy kindle books via the iphone app. But you can buy kindle books via the browser on an iphone (and Apple doesn’t take a percentage there.)

Mentioning this as something to look at for examples or ways to think about things.

A way for individuals to add “signatures” in app to the bottom of every post that would allow links… (these links would also show on other clients but would that really be terrible?)

If memory serves, SOME of the race cars can be moded to be street legal (in a way that can be undone “easily” too if needed.)

It’s been a few years since I spent a lot of time thinking about these things. I don’t think the Le Mans Corvettes were in the easy category but some of the others are. OR there’s also the pace cars.

(Without going into details: I’ve spent a fair amount of time at events with Corvettes.)

It’s that $50-$70k I’m very unlikely to do at least anytime soon. 😂 I’m much more likely to try and convince someone just to let me borrow / track race something I wouldn’t own when you start talking those prices. 😎 I would also love to drive the electric hybrid given how they put that together. Also another I probably wouldn’t want to buy.

C3 body style is chefs kiss visually speaking though.

So this is one of those things where I have to warn people about their own knee jerk reactions to certain words so read in full and digest some.

Getting the word out about a product or service or in-person events. It varies by client.

Think organic SMM. For those who hate advertising the best advertising is really what people opt into and don’t actually find obnoxious.

The easier examples to think through would be events. Say you’re excited about a concert or festival and want to stay up to date about what’s going on or new announcements. You’re going to opt to follow that account.

The smallest business clients end up doing some of the management and posting themselves however.

Customer inquiries. Customer feedback. Social listening (watching for people looking for someone who provides their service or products.) There are a lot of use cases for small businesses to want to use social media.

It's also a little more than bootstrapped exposure. This also goes along with my recent comment of "how much would I want to beat my head against a wall explaining to my not-tech-savvy clients how to set something up over the phone."

And small clarification "more than you need zaps from within Damus."

2000 Chevrolet Corvette C5-R

The Chevrolet Corvette C5-R is a race car that was developed by GM's racing division, Corvette Racing, and is based on the fifth-generation Chevrolet Corvette (C5). The C5-R made its debut in 1999 and immediately became a force to be reckoned with.

It won its first race at Texas Motor Speedway in its debut year, and went on to dominate numerous endurance races for years to come. One of the most notable achievements of the C5-R was its success at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car won its class at the prestigious race in 2001, 2002, and 2004. The drivers who piloted the C5-R to victory at Le Mans include legends such as Ron Fellows, Johnny O'Connell, Oliver Gavin, and Jan Magnussen. These drivers were able to extract the maximum performance out of the C5-R, which was equipped with a variety of high-performance components.

Under the hood, the C5-R was powered by a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine built by Katech, which produced around 620 horsepower at the height of it's dominance. The engine was mated to a Hewland five-speed H-pattern transmission, which sent power to the rear wheels.

The car featured a lightweight body made of carbon fiber, which helped to reduce its weight and improve its handling characteristics. Additionally, the C5-R was equipped with advanced aerodynamic components, such as a large rear wing and a front splitter, which helped to generate downforce and improve its grip.

Chevrolet Corvette C5-R was an incredibly successful race car that left a lasting legacy in the world of endurance racing. Its numerous victories at Le Mans and other endurance races cemented its place in racing history, and its distinctive design and high-performance components continue to inspire racing enthusiasts to this day. #cars #carstr #racing #racingcars #grownostr

One of my very few bucket list items is owning at least one Corvette in my lifetime. I know it wouldn’t be a racing car but even the street legal Corvettes are drool-worthy. 😎

*indicate (I still hate catching my typos everywhere AFTER I’ve posted. I swear I can spell. 😂)

I’m not an expert but when I want to see various platforms have a shot at appealing to a wider audience.

There are levels to the barriers to entry and barriers to use. Setup being hard or confusing is different from continued use being hard or confusing.

Every time I use one of these platforms I’m thinking “how much will I want to beat my head against a wall while trying to explain this to one of my clients over the phone.” Most of them are NOT tech savvy folks.

(We’re not at a stage even with Mastodon where I would suggest client’s set up accounts. Unless they were active on Twitter and trying to escape but most of them aren’t.)

What happened to the "authorize for 5 minutes" from Nos2x? Now it's "Authorize just this" which somehow feels more confusing and I'm not sure why. It took me a minute to realize it had been replaced because I was trying a new-to-me client.

Honestly I understand the "Authorize just this" but if the goal is to ever reach beyond the geeks it has to be stupid plain english. "Authorize temporarily" "Temporary authorization" maybe?

I haven’t used Iris yet at all. Coracle looked like threading was confusing somehow.

I think I looked at my Oldsmobile post and the responses on it and got lost. But I DO give things multiple chances on these things since sometimes someone is mid development (or mid-breaking) something .
