My husband and I live on our 40 acre off-grid homestead in Northeastern Arizona, we're frugally building it up from raw land to our dream homestead. We sell small batch herbal tea blends. My husband is a Journeyman Inside Wireman and former law enforcement. I'm a recovering corporate drone (HR). Follow along to see us build out our homestead and businesses. nostr:npub1m8lkxd9y3zejnsqsywurmaeknel927pfwe4zxq0wyca38rlhzp6s7l6vvq I'm excited to try this out tomorrow, it smells divine! đź’ś Curious... what is in the satchels?

I'm so glad you got them! The satchels are samples of the sleep tea.

I planted some Scarlett Runner Beans, Hopi Sunflowers, Tromboncino Squash, Muncher Cucumbers and Navajo Watermelon today!

My husband seeded about an acre with Teff, our climate is similar to the native climate for Teff, so we're doing a trail run to see if we want to grow more for pastures for our future animals.

Warehousing and accessing good memories is a talent. We are given the promise that the Holy Ghost will “bring all things to your remembrance,” most notably Christ’s words (John 14:26). Memories properly inventoried can serve as their own “cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1), there to steady us.

Memories can be renewing and prevailing amid present difficulties.

There once was a dachshund

Oh so long,

He hadn’t any notion

How long it took to notify

His tail of his emotion.

So while his big eyes were

Filled with woe and sadness,

His little tail went wagging on

Because of previous gladness.

We had our first substantial rain last night and the sunken beds did amazing! The water just absorbed right into the beds and I didn't have to water today, just went out right before dark, the soil was still damp.

And just a note the Jerusalem Artichokes are looking good.

GM Nostr! Just found my first mushroom growing in our garden this year, exciting! Growing very happily between some comfrey and radishes. While I have loved every garden I've had, this one is far more special being our first of many on our new homestead.

While I do love the smell of the Creosote bush, we don't have them. We're at almost 6,000 ft in elevation, far too cold during winter for them.

They did a study at the University of Arizona and found that many plants in the desert release their volatile organic compounds before, during, and after rain and found that basically we do experience a almost euphoric state from the compounds released by many types of desert plants! I found it super interesting to read about!

Nothing is better than the smell of rain in the desert, I don't care if it low or high desert it smells incredible! If you haven't experienced it I highly recommend it, 10 out of 10!

No matter how long you've been gardening it's still exciting when seeds sprout! Been growing things off amd on since I was a child and I will never stop being excited every time one seed sprouts!

Serenaded by the sound of thunder tonight!

Haha, probably not. 🤣 We have an issue here where too many people think they can do electrical because they use it everyday. My husband just went to help a guy troubleshoot his solar system and he hooked it up wrong. My husband had to tell him that he fried four batteries and one of his charge controller, over $2,500 worth of equipment all because he plugged the cables into the wrong sides. He's seen even supposed solar companies do similar.

Yeah, twenty years ago they pushed college here in the states too, hence my somewhat useless degree....

Oh, the McDonald's is crap, those are entry-level jobs that don't need apprenticeships!

The German one seems to be similar to how the trade labor unions have their apprenticeships set up in the States, he did some time in class and the rest hands on learning and being paid to do it. Their local had them take off a full week at a time several times a year but other locals have their apprentices come in to class after work a couple days a week. His apprenticeship was five years, most range from 4 to 6 years.

Yup, my husband did an apprenticeship and was paid to learn the trade, where as I have a useless degree and more debt then I care to admit from it.
