I had never even heard of "ponerology" and had to look it up.
It makes me of Hannah Arendt's books on the origins of totalitarianism.
I've heard her talk about these books in interviews and she digs deep and seems to know her stuff!
I wrote inside the cover of my copy: π
> "For ο»Ώthe wisdom of this world is foolishness with God."
βThe #Bible, 1 Corinthians 3:19
I just finished reading The World's Wisdom: Sacred Texts of the World's Religions by
Philip Novak.
It was pretty interesting. It covers Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Primal religions. I may reread it and post some excerpts here that I found noteworthy...
Testickle? Interesting title π
I do multiples as well. I want to read that Whitney Webb book as well, and you have some other interesting titles there I may need to investigate.
What are you reading right now, or what is the last book you read?
"but test everything; hold fast what is good."
βThe #Bible, 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (ESV)
Looks like someone's crazy wishlist. π
> The government in Kiev rejected a number of plebiscites during the 1990s aimed at re-establishing Crimea as an independent republic. In 2014, the people of the region voted overwhelmingly in a referendum to become part of #Russia in the wake of the Maidan coup in Ukraine.

> Kiev and its Western backers still consider the peninsula to be βillegally annexedβ Ukrainian territory. President Vladimir Zelensky said in August 2022 that Kiev would seize #Crimea βby any means necessary.β
Sounds kind of like #China insisting they will take #Taiwan. I suggest the people of Taiwan get to decide if they want to remain independent or become part of China. That could apply to #Gaza as well; do those Palestinians want to be incorporated in #Israel?
Self-determination for all, even down to the individual level!
I'm sure the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey knew Chick-fil-A would be closed on Sundays when they contracted with them. You can't go change the deal after the fact. If they don't like Chick-fil-A's practice then perhaps they should try to buy them out of the contract. Offer them billions or whatever it takes to get them to close their 9 restaurants at rest stops that would be affected. But forcing them to stay open on Sundays is unacceptable and unconstitutional. It violates freedom of religion and the 13 Amendment's prohibition of slavery.
Is #Israel still God's Chosen People?

The story sounds plausible to me. How else do you get "James" from "Jacob"?
Oh wow, all this time that had me confused! It sounded like "communist" to me! π
Something I heard recently was that the Book of James in the New Testament was not originally called James. It was called Jacob, which was the Hebrew name of Jesus' brother who wrote it. But King James wanted his name in the Bible so the book of Jacob was renamed James!
And if you look at the Greek title of the book, you can see it looks more like Jacob than James π:

Thanks for sharing! I'm a fan of Bob Murphy and listen subscribe to his podcast. But what does he mean when it says he's "a Christian and a communist"? Is that a joke? π€
I was raised on the King Jimmy (KJV) myself, so I have some fondness for it, but I do think people should read the Bible in language they understand. But translations do tend to reflect the current opinions of the translators. Therefore, everyone probably should read the Bible in the original Hebrew and Greek for the best experience π (kinda like the Muslims says you should read the Quran in Arabic).
