Govt has basically always been a form of religion. The more secular versions of govt are arguably the more powerful religions because they make people believe they have evolved beyond religion. The lack of awareness & denial of what it is makes it far more dangerous. Most govts want any belief in a higher authority stamped out so that they are the highest authority. They align with other religions only in so much as doing so makes it possible to subvert them. No religion in school, but you will pray to the flag every morning.

Govt has songs, symbols, statues, monuments, ritual ceremoney, sacred halls, sacred texts, black robed interpreters of said texts, costumed authorities, "intellectuals" for modern preachers (as you pointed out), violent foreign crusades, manufactured external boogeymen (disease, climate, terrorists, etc), & at the end of the day people are just doing horrible shit to each other in the name of an imaginary abstraction.

I think there is a negative side to zaps, almost unavoidable. Zaps aren't a great signal imo, there's a fair amount of zap farming through low effort posting of bitcoin slogans, cos that kinda works.

If the government was covering expenditures with taxes the world would be a better place. Deficit spending is the most evil of all. I’m against all of it but the e point remains that they care less about taxes when they can print.

You cannot "own" #Bitcoin in the traditional sense of owning stuff.

No matter what governments, courts, chain-anal people, or anyone else tells you, there is no way of proving that someone DOESN'T know a string of information such as a private key.

From this perspective, satoshis aren't ever transferred but rather reorganized on the timechain for communication purposes.

What Bitcoin makes so blatantly obvious is that money was never anything but information.

A ban on "self-hosted wallets" is as absurd as a ban on using your brain.

Such a ban would have severe consequences.

It would deny you the right to keep a secret while granting the government the right to claim that you do, making everyone a criminal.

YOU would have to prove that you DON'T know something, which is impossible.

You would be guilty until proven innocent, which cannot be proven.

Any law trying to stop or restrict Bitcoin usage is nothing less than a crime against humanity.

IMHO, the Bitcoin community should do everything in its power to prevent such laws. Your ability to use a communications network shouldn't depend on where you were born.

Do your part and educate as many people as you can as often as possible.

Speech is never free but always costly. It's high time to separate speech and state!
