Anyone have a good Tai Chi DVD or program to recommend?

#taiChi

I've done some bird stalking in the backyard, and then got to see the Brown Swiss cows at a neighbors' farm. So far, it has been a good way to spend a federal holiday.

Today:

TreeScope: An Agricultural Robotics Dataset for LiDAR-Based Mapping of Trees in Forests and Orchards .

Derek Cheng et al.

Dataset paper. Acquired LiDAR scans of forestry and large orchard trees (almond, pistachio) from under the canopy, using small UAVs or a mobile unit in a backpack or cart. (cont. 1/2)

I got my ?th covid booster yesterday and MERCY SAKES I feel like my body has been stretched past normal limits.

Joint pain, which I have anyway, seems to be a consistent side effect for me.

tfw: I'm reading one of my oft-rejected papers, and I'm thinking, "hey this paper is pretty good! I would like to read this even if I didn't write it!"

So let's see what happens with resubmission.

Final Dairy Show 2023 photos: 1: Ruby (L) and Sassy (R), almost the same age and in the same class. 2: location in WV, hotter (and humider? my word) than the hubs of Hades, but lovely. The barn is behind me. Betty the dry cow (3), and Ruby the littlest one curled up for a nap (4). All Ayrshires in these photos.

I've had this for 13 years and just now felt I could do this w/o getting overwhelmed.

Also, my specialist is a research guy, which has really helped to get a sense of the known, unknown, πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ topics.

Mom's Mandevilla is very beautiful this year, covered in deep red blooms.

I had the camera out when the goldfinches were out! and in the process saw a hummingbird as it buzzed through this sunflower scene with a male Am. Goldfinch.

Dating gardening books by content, which invasives are included?

"Giant Hogweed ... it blooms 10 feet in the air, with white flowers that resemble a giant Queen Anne's lace. It is poisonous to touch on hot summer days ...

Wolfgang relishes gardening dangerously."

nostr:npub19604u3yacm452fsfhth8vhdqcxhthgdc9drrm43km5uxe9ytxjnq9xw6j3 Agreed. I've been debating whether or not it actually brings me any pleasure. Some time ago, I started a bad habit of playing a "simple game" while watching TV. Based on current comments from Hollywood execs, this is not an uncommon combination. Of course, this means I do neither very well. I've been actively trying to stop this activity because it splits my attention -- something else that doesn't seem to be good to practice.

nostr:npub1yyr9lvs0syq4xa22kr2gxcfuw0auaky8w0df3ensjcear9gnqepqfla9up Same on "I've been debating whether or not it actually brings me any pleasure." The alternative, be alone in your thoughts, seems not great at times. I also now realize that my day is optimizing optimizing optimizing and it is really hard to really relax and get rest that way.

Recently, I've got this feeling that many of the skills and habits I refined from my grad student days are now coming back to bite me, 10 years later.

I’m blessed to live in an area where most people have tall cedar fences and there are lots of mature trees, but when I installed a gurgling fountain in my backyard, I found it really improved the soundscape.

And when there’s birds chirping it’s heaven πŸ˜ƒ

(my health issues 🀝 lab leaving off an ordered test 🀝 nurses' strike 🀝 my specialist doctor on vacation) = badness.

but when that doctor texted that he was on vacation and asked whether I could wait, I rebelled against my default reply and texted back no, I can't wait more.

He called me in between flights! And now we have a planned medication switch that I can implement from here.

Oh great... Now I'm thinking about it so I can hear my refrigerator's compressor and the cooling fan on my router and the fan in the window in the back bedroom and my tinnitus in my right ear and...πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Clearly it's time for some music.

nostr:npub1drxn3qamgelvtuu8uaqudzc2tjyppl90cd84dsd3dv2967mswtfsmzu06u Sorry! I see I am not the only one with this issue. Yeah, music and good headphones help.

Next, figuring out how to soundproof a refrigerator.

(I hear everything, which is both a superpower and a source of irritation. Yes, refrigerator and HVAC system, I hear your differing high-frequency whines!). /2
