Happy birthday, Jesus!

"He is the beginning, THE FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD, that in everything he might be preeminent."

"I try never to speak about a country, even in passing, unless I've at least been there."

-Douglas Murray on the Joe Rogan Podcast

"I try never to allow my tax money to be sent to a foreign land unless I have at least been there."

-Me on my couch

Some people defend their home with just a gun, but that's too isolationist. If someone attacks your home that is inexcusable, so you have to attack the bad guys before they attack you.

However, you won't know who is attacking you if you are isolated at home. You need to set up deer stands all around town and hire about a hundred armed guards to make sure no one is starting to attack you. Make sure you have the most guards where bad people live.

But how will I know who the bad guys are? Easy! They are the ones who say stuff like, "Get out of my lawn with that gun!" Even after you give $100 to a bad guy and tell them to shut up, they will say, "No. What gives you the right to come onto my property."

Some will say those are reasonable things for the bad guys to say. However, that's what the bad guys want you to think. They'll show their true colors by attacking the deer stands and the guards that you paid for with your own money. Then you'll see how important it is for you to have your guards in the community. Everything would be chaos without your courageous leadership.

Be prepared though, your wife and kids might ask, "Why are you wasting money on this?" "Why are you so aggressive towards our neighbors?" "Why don't you sell some deer stands and fix a couple things around the house?" If that happens, you know they are secretly working for the bad guys. Watch your back.

And, of course, this is pretty much the current state of US foreign policy.

My prediction: Trump wins tonight and/or Harris wins in two weeks.

I'm just saying that voting for statists is one strategy that people like to take to feel like they're doing good to their neighbor. It's not obeying Christ's command. It's hoping that a politician will obey Christ's command because their positions are spun to sound a little more caring. (If castrating confused children can be spun to sound caring, anything can be.) When in reality, the politician could care less about humans dying in war or in abortions or from lack of affordable energy.

There are other strategies for using your vote to love your neighbor. For instance, knowing that the greatest purveyors of mass death in history are governments, you can try not to give the government more authority. That's power they won't be able to use against your neighbor to their harm.

Either way you vote, you can go and obey Christ's command directly to your neighbor.

Eastern TN, Western NC, upstate SC are rekt. Hundreds of roads in Western NC simply no longer exist.

The state and federal response has been ongoing, with over 1,000 personnel, including National Guard assets, deployed according to FEMA. A disaster declaration for NC has been made but crews cannot traverse over collapsed bridges and 100+ foot ravines.

Main interstates I-40 and I-26 have collapsed sections. Numerous state roads have washed away.

Many secondary roads into neighborhoods are effectively eviscerated for miles. Survivors can't get out, help can't get in.

It's hard to get into Asheville. A 30 minute drive take 8-12 hours with many roads not existing, the remaining gas stations swamped. To get into smaller towns in the mountains is a day's journey if possible at all. National Guard trucks with food and water have to stop at collapses.

Similar to Hurricane Katrina, where boats and helicopters were the only viable means of aid delivery in the first days, air support is currently the most effective way to connect Western NC to the outside world. There are a limited amount of helicopters operating. Although the water has receded, the roads are still impassable.

This is still very much an active search and rescue mission. There is a high number of missing (in the thousands per state media) because people can't get in touch with loved ones. We saw this after Hurricane Ian as well, and expect that number will drop significantly when phone service/internet returns. For death toll and recovery, the final number will likely not be known for at least a month.

The lack of media presence on the ground isn't for lack of trying - reporters can't get into many areas for the same reason rescue can't. Even if they could, communication systems are destroyed / offline.

This is not going to be a quick recovery for anyone. Some rural parts of Western NC may never be rebuilt.

Lord, be merciful!

I don't want any news from Kremlin-backed sources.

That would be like (remember that one time?) when that one government lied Americans into two disastrous, twenty-year wars at the same time. Anyway, that taught us that you have to watch out for who might be funding your news.

If you're mad at the people whom you freely and willingly do business with on a daily basis rather than with the people who rob you through legalized counterfeiting, you probably should learn the difference.
