Found for $5 each. Think I've found something... Fun fact, physics author starts explaining multiplication at pg 305.

>His most important work on the philosophy of science was his Physics: The Elements, published in 1919 (reissued by Dover as Foundations of Science: The Philosophy of Theory and Experiment in 1957). This work consists of the first two parts of a planned five-part work that was never completed. In this book Campbell developed his thesis that a critical analysis of science might not require any philosophy at all, but that an investigation of the meaning of reality and truth in science as opposed to metaphysics might be fruitful. Campbell believed that what might be considered "truth" in the realm of science might not be applicable at all in other fields

Nice! Too cloudy for me to see unfortunately

So you've found someone to take care of your sms problem? πŸ‘€ that was fast

Completely in agreement there. I use Amber with Amethyst to sign my events. Amber has the option to immediately accept all events once you've accepted once. I leave that setting turned off for some events like zaps, edits and reposts. That extra confirmation help me really know if i want to send that event, any anyone who subscribes to my event is affected by my "algorithm"

With the constraints of main stream social media, algorithms maximized for time spent on app and interactions (not necessarily social). Async communication is already a nudge to be less likely meaningfully engage with ideas. 144 characters limit is a nudge to less likely have a well formed statment about the idea. Likes/reactions are a metric of emotional engagement, but typically aren't maximizing for specific types of emotional engagement and so it optimizes for the strongest signal, attention. Add on to the fact that we weight our negative experiences higher than positive and you have a strong facilitation of the outrage culture we see.

Expect the rit rate to flip in the future. But then you'd also have to replace "ghosted" with "stalked" now in your note πŸ˜…πŸ˜“

yeah, but colloquially "the algorithm" references a generally opaque reccomendation system optimizing for engagement.

The distaste comes from the higher order effects of said algorithm. These effects are reflective of what happens when you try to get the system to optimize for a metric in a complex system.

That second one πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

I approach nostr through a network science/Complexity perspective.

- Formal Cause: What is the form of the system? The network is the structure of the system

- Material Cause: What is the system constructed of? Individual engagement by humans is the process in which the network comes to be.

- Efficient cause: What is the process by which the system changes? The cybernetic mix of human engagement and algorithm-like process that bring notes to our feeds.

- Final cause: What is the purpose of the system? To be an effective protocol to facilitate censorship resistance.

After defining our system using the Four Causes, what effects do we want? What processes exist that are destructive to the system that we should work on?

First and formost I dont want toxicity nor spam, otherwise i see no point to the protocol.

Hence: WOT, fine grained filter controls, and segragated communities. Actual public squares can exist because smaller communties have a higher cohesion in values whereas the world is too fragmented to have a global free-for-all town square.

The nature of the communication can signal a face slammed with door methinks, passive aggressive. I don't want passive aggressive design in my apps. The FB thumb gives me that vibe too.

If you need to leave, you say it. Yes its harder, but you leave acknowledging the humanity of the individuals you engaged with instead of a sign saying I'm done and a "i'm-not-listening-lalala" silent vibe.

Course not, I'm a light hearted troller if anything πŸ˜›

too much wasted energy πŸ₯±

multiple accounts to segregate different accounts okay πŸ’

Yeah, breezy warm sunny mornings are so picturesque β˜€οΈπŸ˜Š! Feel like the repetetive action of the enduring work of Sysiphus might have gotten him to eventually enjoy the task.

What is my purpose in life? Roll a ball up a hill? Not bad. Simple, don't need to think too hard about it πŸ’ͺ
