I grew up on a ranch with ~200 head off cattle. It was on the plains, so there wasn't much for trees or bush, just what my family had planted over the years. I did a lot of fencing, barbed & electric, and barn cleaning, bale picking, plus taking care of the yard. I just ran the wires inside my clothes, and kept the player in an inside pocket. Not much room for wires to get snagged between the back of your neck and your ears.
