First time I’m using Open Camera for Android, loving how much better this is than the default camera app!
Love this info, thanks for sharing!
It’s probably nowhere near accurate that people voluntarily spent $16.5M on these because they liked them and wanted them.
Great art does not depend upon comfort, it does not depend upon the support of riches. But a great age is brought about only with the aid of wealth, because a great age means the deliberate fostering of genius, the gathering-in and grouping and encouragement of artists.
— Ezra Pound, Cavalcanti
I am most definitely a “bourgeois garbed in unsightly and absurd clothes,” but maybe I can do something about bringing some splendor back into living traditions of art 😂
Is it not dreadful and humiliating to think that Moses went up on Sinai, the Greeks built their lovely temples, the Romans waged their Punic Wars, Alexander, that handsome genius in a plumed helmet, fought his battles, apostles preached, martyrs suffered, poets sang, artists painted, knights shone at tournaments—only that some French, German or Russian bourgeois garbed in unsightly and absurd clothes should enjoy life “individually” or “collectively” on the ruins of all this vanished splendor?

That was really early days for Lightning. I remember Jack Mallers had a “Zap Wallet” for LN but I had no idea what that meant!
Welcome back!

This is the other pinned post on my Instagram:
I want to spend the rest of my life ensuring that the greatest artists are given a chance to show the world what they can really do. Far too many artists have their hands tied behind their backs because their greatest works are absolutely terrifying in ambition. They’re too bold, they’re too expensive, they’re too risky, for the average patron. So the right patron really has to be crazy enough to meet the artist at this high level where you look at their work and you say, “Who could have possibly asked the artist to make this? Who would be crazy enough to pay for such a thing?” And I want to be that crazy guy, for artists all over the world, because that’s how I believe the greatest works get created, when there’s this extraordinary meeting between the greatest talent and the craziest patron.
