I can think of multiple business models that can use Nostr and grow the network at the same time.
Wedding Photography, where people who join Nostr can see the photos and pay for the ones they like the most.
Media coverage where photos, stories and videos are automatically uploaded to the globe, and people who appreciate the news can help pay for it immediately.

The only thing that government has to do, indeed the only thing that they have ever had to do, is balance their budgets. Taxes should fund spending, year after year. Need more spending? Raise more taxes. People don't like taxes? Lower spending. Keeping it balanced is the only goal.
When things get our of balance, the entire world goes to crap. Go out of balance year after year, decade after year, and there's a crap storm. That's what we are facing now. If a government ever decides to balance their budget and exist within the taxable revenue streams of their citizens, those citizens will be happy and they will thrive. Too bad we have zero examples of that right now, anywhere.

We are working on a bunch of new feeds at Primal. They will all be open source and exposed in a public feed marketplace (as DVMs). In addition, all Primal clients will support 3rd party feeds via the same mechanism. I think the minute that Primal has private group feeds that work well across multiple major Nostr apps, none of the corporate social media platforms will stand a chance. I have MANY friends who are interested, but are turned off by the global visibility of everything they post. We have 1:1 Messages, but what we need are group messaging that is secure from anyone outside the designated list of viewers.
Most people are leaving FB, X and others looking for a place to talk to their friends, their tribe, their circle. As soon as Nostr can deliver on that, everything else will collapse and go completely ghost town.
So X broke their notifications, meaning I cannot see the feed of posts that I want to see. Part of that was tracking how the Bitcoin Spot ETFs were doing, which I haven't been able to track very well since X broke itself.
Corporate social media can burn. It has completely failed this city.

Nostr and the LN combines open global connections with the ability to conduct commerce locally for all goods and services. Reaching out across the world is an option and a choice, but paying for the food you eat, for the expenses of housing, education and health care, for all the things we enjoy, that's the real power that we have given over to gate keepers and middle men for centuries. That's the power we need to take back, using a medium of exchange and unit of account that doesn't fail as a store of value over time.
Daily dividend watchlist updates, 8/18/2024
I update around 7 each day to get my watchlist of around 900 stocks and ETFs updated over a 4 month timeframe. This is building my revenue stream so I can retire.
My main advertising slogan for Nostr is "No Algorithms, No Corporations, No Advertising". What I'm seeing a lot of people asking for is private groups, where an admin/moderator controls who sees the feed, and they don't have to worry about the whole world watching. Having the entire planet on a level playing field seems very strange to new people, and it is hard to get used to the idea.
What do you mean by "positioned better"? What could be changed?
