nostr:npub1murdy8k20svu38g9f9jt9k0rqkjzt677x3qrev88je4gw2erqk8scwcnel interesting. What colony sent delegates but didn’t join?
I reviewed the history further, and I was wrong. What I had remembered is that Quebec raised two regiments that participated in the Continental Army, but when Colonists launched an invasion of Quebec in September 1775, any potential success in convincing the people of the former French colonies to join in the efforts against England were basically a waste of effort.
I knew that they had been invited, and one of them actually sent delegates that didn't make it.
If Google can do that, Nostr can do that.
Valid point. We'll be able to do better once the adoption curve includes the majority of people in the country. We're not there right now, so we have to work with what we have. That's what you're saying, yes?
I have family in the UK, and I keep begging them to set up Strike and Primal so we can stop going through the existing financial middle men. Eventually, they will.
I'm on FB and X.
FB is a joke, it's all ads and promotions from this or that page, company, whatever. Doomscrolling is real, and the reels take up a lot of my time mostly because I'm bored.
X is useful for those few profiles that post updates on some things I care about. but those profiles are drowned out by the noise, and almost nobody reacts or responds when I post. I usually give up within a few minutes and close it down.
Nostr is where I come to interact with other humans who care about the same things that I do. We may have different ideas, ideology, whatever. But only here do we have a foundation that we can use to build. Monetary foundation, Trust foundation, Information foundation, Inspiration foundation. It's all built into the protocol. I know if I see a post, 99% of the time the person who typed it is the person who created it. Even Reposts identify the source, not the person who hit share. So if I like a post, I can support the source. And I can trust it, even if I disagree with it. The information is secure, once a post goes out it's locked and whoever made the post has to be accountable for it. And if someone gets an idea first, nobody else can claim they had that idea earlier because timestamps are recorded.
I really believe that all social media roads will lead to Nostr. All we need is bridges built to and from the other networks and systems. No more silos. If someone wants a private conversation, that's a feature that is being developed, but with the base protocol as the foundation.
As far as relevant world events, I'll go to actual news sources for that. Real ones.
Agreed. I promote Nostr wherever I go, and nobody in my community cares.
Has anyone put together a list of developers and the projects that they are working on so that the community can easily see who to zap with support if they like how an app is working?
I know Amethyst has the "zap the devs" thing which pops up like an advertisement whenever I load the app, but all that does is discourage me from loading the app. I'll zap a post about a new version or upgrade to something that I use if I see it in my feed, but I'm not really in a position to send more than a hundred sats here or there. More exposure for the devs would be great, and even though I know that I'm following most of the ones I like, the VAST majority of content that I see is regular life posts, not "see what I built".
I'd actually like to see more of the "see what I did" posts. Every upgrade, every new version, etc.
the whole objective of Nostr is to be the base level protocol under multiple apps, right? so build the bridges so that any post, from anywhere goes everywhere. thanks to: Nostr. people will know how and why that works, and thus my phrase, all roads lead to Nostr. people will eventually stop thinking about the apps, except for how they connect to Nostr.
Right, which is why I would want to post here and have it feed to the other networks. Why log into anything else when the bridges do all the work?
I put $10 per day into Bitcoin and an equal amount into a dividend growth strategy that is growing my revenue stream by 60% per year. Bitcoin is the future, but unless we are miners there is no revenue stream so once we stop working how do we continue to buy Bitcoin?!
I one tried to talk about my strategy here on Nostr, but I got yelled at. so meh.
Imagine a bridge from Nostr TO the other services. You would almost never have to log into those other services again.
We need bridges built to X, Threads and Bluesky so that all posts feed to Nostr and all roads lead to Nostr.
Mastodon already has a bridge.
Nothing. It's all hype. What we need to build are bridges to allow people to connect their accounts on Bluesky to their Nostr npub accounts, and then just let the traffic flow. All roads will eventually lead to Nostr.
Their feed has been flowing onto Nostr for a long time.
