i'm always up for answering questions about Golang and distributed systems if you want technical help.
yesterday some ETHheads popped into my feed to muddy the waters with lies and half truths about consensus algorithms and nostr that made many people confused. YES nostr needs a consensus algorithm but NO absolutely not a blockchain, it doesn't need strong consistency. facebook and twitter etc don't have strongly consistent databases neither do we.
that sort of thing.
i'm not doing a lot of Go coding at the moment, working on some container deployment scripting stuff but probably will get to do some async/concurrent code again soon, which is my favourite.
i'd like to add earthing to my vivobarefoot shoes but i'm a bit nervous about putting anything bumpy inside them... i really can feal the ground like my eyes are looking at it, in high resolution...
whatever is not manufactured by people intending to steal the product of my labor, but made by God only.
status update:
https://geyser.fund/project/gophermilkfactory
we got a pull request merged on strfry:
https://github.com/hoytech/strfry/pull/79
nothing amazing, just makes it a lot easier to hack on strfry for people running arch (like me).
next task, with that in hand, is building deployment scripts for a relay deployment system based on strfry, using cookiecutter and spambuster with haproxy handling the proxy to enable multiple relay operators to share a fat server.
keep the ads off myscreen unless you want to pay me 1 sat per pixel.
i'm not buying into that whole nihilistic materialism thx.
nor am i letting myself get a harkonnen heartplug neurojack. i'm staying in the real world, no matter what the cost to me.
the bad smell is always fungus and oxidised fats.
the musk doesn't smell bad.
yeah, something i've not done a lot of in years. i'm in an environment now where i could get such contact. many of the "levadas" - aqueducts that route spring water from the north side to the south side of the island of Madeira, have nice flat dirt paths... it would be easy for me to find some places nearby where there'll be no residues of anything nasty and put a bit of clean soil bacteria in my gut and get my feet covered in it, and then finish up with washing my feet in the nearby stream.
i don't like crocs at all. plastic hipster garbage. but i get the point that they are letting dirt into your feet.
i wear a pair of minimal, african made Vivobarefoot shoes, for the biomechanical reasons. it's a little rough on the feet when most of the surfaces are dead flat pavement, but fortunately the portuguese tradition of mosaiced pavements gives a lot of areas where i can walk on very varied surfaces.
nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg definitely has Lightning functionality. I’m not sure what you’re seeing but you should absolutely be able to send Lightning payments with that 180k sats
it must surely involve opening a channel though? and fees! which could be a hassle with BRC20s back on the hustle.
probably just the fact that nostr uses schnorr signatures, solely.
hilarious their blockchains are so great that they can't get anyone to buy their garbage tokens anymore so they have to brand them with the current thing of bitcoiners.
just doing another ubuntu 22 install on a VM atm. the thing has a feature to automatically add SSH pubkey from a github username.
it's been a few years since i did an ubuntu server install, 20 was quite a bit different.
based on the rapid onset of increasing core body temperature right after consuming a meal with ~60g of fat, on two separate occasions today, i've figured out the aches and cold and niggling pain this last two days has been keto flu.
keto, but without any fat. plenty of salt, but no fat.
thus, as soon as my intestines got a load of fat my liver was cranking out the glucose like no tomorrow.
when i first started on the yoghurt, i wasn't fermenting it the full 24 hours.
once i was doing 24 hours, there was ZERO carbs in my food except traces in the cacao and small amounts of semi skim milk, nowhere near enough to sustain normal metabolism.
and then i put a load of nasty sour pineapple in my gut, which then proceeded to spasm all night.
it's a really odd feeling, when after eating fats, within about half an hour you are getting a glucose rush.
getting addicted to good things is a definite life hack.
i've been straying back onto the caffeine recently, that's gotta go back to the no list, and probably so does the cacao, though i don't want to stop until i've used it up on my current budget...
"help isn't coming" is a terrible meme going around lately.
it absolutely is, but the ones tormenting us are blocking the doors and windows.
every so often i see a post whining about how people talk "too much" about bitcoin on nostr.
my feed is full of philosophy, physics, chemistry, psychedelics, permaculture, homesteading, DIY, cryptography, computer programming, eschatology, conversations about what is happening nearby, sometimes two lovers gushing over each other constantly (that is annoying, so i quit subscribing to them).
i'm making it a rule now, i don't subscribe whining bitches. the lower their WoT score the better my feed.
my minimum is already set at 7 and i'm still seeing nonsense. time to move it up a notch and see if that's enough to filter out the garbage.
go. milk. atlantis. psychedelic drugs. distributed systems. operating systems. physics. chemistry. economics.
stubborn refusal to accept bullshit.
better to be right and alone than know it's wrong and get punished with them for lack of courage.
the hard part is that being alone is often very taxing economically.
er, equinox. equinox was sunup 8am sundown 8pm.
the kids were already running around the playground in the school across the road before dawn!
here in madeira during summer insanity the solstice sunup/sundown time was 8am 8pm.
so, yeah, actually we are always on DST here in Madeira, and then in summer we are 2 hours ahead of the sun.
it has definitely been playing havoc with me so bad i switched my timezone to cape verde time (no stupid DST in cape verde, and not in stupid portugal time zone 15' to the east.
