Hacker, cypherpunk. All memes are my own.

No, that wouldn't be a true verification of the blockchain. It with that setting your node ignores uncomfirmed transactions being broadcast around and only pays attention to confirmed blocks.

Thanks! That's what I ended up doing. I have a big message to myself to delete that later which I will probably still forget about.

If anyone wants a vanity NIP-05 at https://skullofsatoshi.co I'm still offering them for free.

But muh vibe regulation!

*Laughs in ordinal*

Hmm. Still struggling to get my Bitcoin Node to complete the IBD after I bought a 1 TB SSD. I think I need to look through the docks to get it to stop paying attention to the mempool while syncing for now.

Exactly. If it becomes decentralized only in name and is based around a central node it’s just Twitter with a less ergonomic protocol. It’s much harder to go back afterwards and make it decentralized than it is to do that from the beginning.

Don’t just follow quality people. Follow quality people who follow quality people. Building a large and well curated network of trust is paramount.

Yes, most people know he’s supported both protocols. The complaints about the architecture and design of Bluesky have nothing to do with who is funding the project.

Is anyone else still getting lots of English posts with translations saying “Translated from English”?

Learning about Tokio so I can build a toy Nostr client to learn more about the protocol.

I can confirm Bitcoin’s gas fees are incredibly low. One might even say non-existent.

Can someone explain what the hell is going on in the Bitcoin mempool and blocks? I thought the ordinal fiasco was over but now the fees are surpassing the block rewards?

It makes talking to computer scientists really easy. Just rename all your friends Bob and Alice and they'll listen to any story with intense concentration.

Not at all. The difference between a centralized social media platform like Twitter and something decentralized like Nostr is that instead of all information being stored in one place it’s all over the internet.

For example, to get my NIP-05 your client had to contact my website and check my JSON file. This is by design and isn’t a bad thing. If you want to be able to watch a video someone sent that’s hosted on nostr.build, your client will also have to contact that website.

Damus is simply retrieving information stored in many different places. This is the definition of decentralization.

Just ran the privacy report myself. It’s contacting your relays, getting profile pictures, NIP-05s, and downloading all the other images people are sending.
