Mastodon, Nostr, and Bluesky have each (unfortunately) predominantly attracted a specific subculture. Filter-bubble fragmentation. Threads by Instagram probably has the best bet at wide appeal. Classic Zuck too. And I hate it. We need open protocols to win this round.
How many Nostr users complaining about Bluesky know that #[0] is behind them both? Why do maxis see everything as a threat?

At this point I think it's fair to say that Nostr has been validated as a protocol. Clients and UX are also good. It feels like what we need now is diversity.

📖 In Math We Trust is five years old and a lot has changed since it was first published. What topics need to be included in a book about the future of money and trust? What did you believe five years ago that you have since changed your mind about?
