The most starking difference between NOSTR and Twitter is the tone. Twitter is full of nastyness, of frustration, of insults of disrespect, of negative vibes whilst NOSTR is the exact opposite. I'm yet to read an insulting comment directed at a Nostrich on NOSTR.

I'm about to visit the place actually, to see it with my own eyes. I'm not sure where is a safe place to live to be honest. It depends what you mean by safe. Centralisation of power is everywhere and there are no democracies in this world. Democracy is the power of the people, by the people and for the people. If you mean actual safety, looking at statistics the EU is becoming more and more dangerous because of it's forced open borders policies. #Shengen was great on paper before the rulling class decided to let unfiltered waves of migrants enter the continent. Mass killings and outright murders were unheard of before in countries like France and Sweden, they have become just a fact of life. The trouble is things are getting worse, not better as immigrants keep coming in with no control or visa requirements. I'm told the Emirates are a very safe place to live. A young girl can walk outside at 2am anywhere carefree. You would not say that about Paris now.

I've heard that viewpoint before, of course it's shared amongst the cypherpunk mouvement and it comes mostly from the US because of it's history and it's appetite for cessation when the state becomes too big. But I can't help seeing an ideology which like all ideologies overlooks second order effects. It seems to me that anarchy has never been very peaceful whilst most humans now aspire to a peaceful society. So I'm not sure this ideal of statelessness will become very popular.

I sens ideology here. If we d'dn't have states to enforce the power to kill and imprison, wouldn't we have anarchy ? Hasn't anarchy proven to be bloody and unjust ? I get the sovereign individual claim regarding btc and think it acts as a great balance of power but I'm not sure I want to live stateless yet. It's true that states are dividing us though, especially now. Whether in the US or in the EU the waves of migrants are deliberately organised by our gvt and bringing social disorder. But don't you think the main issue there is the lack of democracy with a ruling class that has stopped working for our interests. Yes BTC is empowering on an individual level but we are yet to see what it will do to society as a whole with more adoption.

When you consider they've been suppressing the price if gold this way, and it worked, for a while, I wouldn't be surprised to see loads of paper BTC sold whilst backed by nothing. @caitlinlong argued this is what happened in 2021 with FTX and why we didn't see valuations above 100,000 USD. That's another reason for being long over the long term because eventually, price discovery happens. Should be intersting how it unfolds though, blackrock has pretty deep pockets. #ETFstr
