My wife’s first experience of anything other than dispensationalism was when we were at a week long conference where Joel Beeke was preaching on Revelation. It didn’t go down well initially 😅
My wife’s family how been Brethren for a few generations. Dispensationalism is likely the number 1 cause of mental health issues in Christians. So much fear of the rapture

Fell down a hole for 2 months. I’m back now
It’s on of those Sundays where I’m already wishing it was the weekend again
I think community notes is a bad idea. I’ve seen some good ones on X but I’ve also seen some woefully uneducated ones.
They’re usually accurate when it’s within the realm of the community making the note, otherwise it’s down to popular consensus.
I think zaps are more resistant to this but isn’t foolproof. There’s no reason that a motivated group couldn’t plough a lot into zaps to “validate” a false community note. It does make the barrier to entry higher though which is good.
GM friends. It’s the Sabbath, even if you aren’t Christian make this the day that you take true rest!
Mark 8:36–37 (ESV): 36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? 37 For what can a man give in return for his soul?

We’ve lost the spiritual perspective that were made for work. Not corporate, rat-race work but meaningful work. Creating things with our hands, our minds, together in unity.
For me, being financially independent wouldn’t be a ticket to retire early. It would be a ticket to do meaningful work that the world no longer values.
“Jesus is the true and better Adam who passed the test in the garden, a much tougher garden, and whose obedience is imputed to us.
Jesus is the true and better Abel who, though innocently slain, has blood that cries out, not for our condemnation, but for our acquittal.
Jesus is the true and better Abraham who answered the call of God to leave all the comfortable and familiar and go into the void, not knowing whither he went.
Jesus is the true and better Isaac who was not just offered up by his father on the mount but was truly sacrificed for us all. What God said to Abraham, “Now I know you love me because you did not withhold your son—your only son whom you love—from me,” now we, at the foot of the cross, can say to God, “Now we know that you love me because you did not withhold your Son—your only Son whom you love—from me.”
Jesus is the true and better Jacob who wrestled and took the blow of justice we deserve so we, like Jacob, only receive the wounds of grace that wake us up and discipline us.
Jesus is the true and better Joseph who sits at the right hand of the King and forgives those who betrayed and sold him and uses his power to save them.
Jesus is the true and better Moses who stands in the gap between the people in the Lord and who mediates a new covenant.
Jesus is the true and better rock of Moses who, when struck with a rod of God’s justice, now gives us water in the desert.
Jesus is the true and better Job who became a truly innocent sufferer and now intercedes for and saves his stupid friends.
Jesus is the true and better David whose victory becomes his people’s victory, though they never lifted a stone to accomplish it themselves.
Jesus is the true and better Esther who didn’t just risk losing an earthly palace but lost the ultimate heavenly one, who didn’t just risk his life but gave his life, who didn’t just say, “If I perish, I perish,” but also, “When I perish, I’ll perish to save my people.”
Jesus is the true and better Jonah who was cast out into the storm so we could be brought in.
Jesus is the real Passover lamb.
Jesus is the true temple, the true prophet, the true priest, the true king, the true sacrifice, the true lamb, the true light, the true bread.” — Tim Keller

Fun fact, Earendel is the Old English word for sun and was often used as an Old English title for Christ.
Describing Christ as the Sun was significant back then as medieval theologians sought to see God in the seasons and nature around them. Here’s a poem written that describes Christ as Earendel:
“O Earendel, brightest of angels,
sent to mankind across the earth,
and righteous radiance of the sun,
splendid above all stars, by your own self
you ever enlighten every age.
As you, God born of God long ago,
Son of the true Father, eternally existed
without beginning in the glory of heaven,
so your own creation cries with confidence
to you now for their needs, that you send
that bright sun to us, and come yourself
to lighten those who long have lived
surrounded by shadows and darkness, here
in everlasting night, who, shrouded by sins,
have had to endure death’s dark shadow.”
You too, have a good weekend!
“but keep within you concise and basic precepts that will be enough, at first encounter, to cleanse you from all distress and to send you back without discontent to the life to which you will return”
Sounds simple but is much harder in practice
